lol I did one at work today and came to watch this video because I thought you were going to remove the radiator like it says in the repair manual. I did it the same way as you and I also yanked the terminals out of the connector trying to unplug it lol. Luckily we keep spare harnesses at work so I swapped the terminals out in less than 5 mins.

On my 1993 Pontiac sunbird, there was only the alternator to be removed, not half the engine 😅 this car must have been designed by a Nissan service manager.

You guys think this is bad I had to move a guys engine around after pulling the mounts and rad fans in a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta tdi to replace alternator.. took me 9-12 hours in the pouring rain and the dark.. I had light power but the lining the engine up part was horrid

To get the connector to come out easier, use WD40. Spray the connector and let it sit for about 20-30 minutes. The connector should be way easier to remove from the alternator! Hope this helps anyone doing this darn job😂

@@pandydiyI just got it down to 2 and a half hours for removal and install. I’ve had bad luck with alternators from auto parts stores as of late. Replaced the alternator 4 or 5 times in the past year on this car. Found a supplier who supplies brand new ones instead of remans. Hopefully this one does the trick. Either way it’s not a fun job.

I have a 2013 that has the battery light and the brake light on new battery still doing it we just bought this Pathfinder it was running fine and then it started doing this any help would be greatly appreciated or if you've ever experienced a symptom of the car not wanting to move just literally crawling and then out of nowhere I don't want to take off thanks in advance

A low voltage can cause all kind of electical, performance issues as car engine or transmission goes. You need to test your alternator to see if it gives proper charge or not. A good alternator should keep car running even when battery terminals are removed.

My pathfinder did the same thing to me. It's your alternator. With a new battery my vehicle made it 20 miles. We loaded it up on a trailer. Auto Zone checked the alternator and it was bad.

What did you have to do to break the 14mm locking cap on the alternator? Is it left threaded or standard thread?

@nolimortis9275 so if we thinking about the same one which is bottom alternator bolt, it's a STUD which has a head that locks itself around the corner so a nut can be bolted to it, it's all lefty loosy, try to make a extension to break that nut loose, then tap the stud out and remove it from back side as it slides out towards driver side. Be careful to use correct size wrench or socket so you won't make the nut round.

The engineers who design these cars obviously don't work on their own cars. This is ridiculous. A family member is being charged $1,300 to change the alternator on this car. Again, ridiculous.

My 2014 Pathfinder looses throttle input, all the gauges sweep and go black, I get 4X4, ABS, Traction control warning lights the a few seconds later everything coms back online with no stored codes in the system. The dealer said it was the CVT and the rear Differential causing the problem which is 100% BS.... We disconnected the Rear Diff and still had the same very random issue. Finally the problem occurred while I had my scan tool installed and recording....during the glitch the VDC goes from 10.5vdc to 19vdc; I am hoping the alternator is the problem. Again this is a very random problem that generally occurs while I am pulling out in traffic or doing 80mph on the freeway in traffic. Nissan has horrible customer service and garbage vehicles, don't buy one.

You only use the 2 wires that was used on your factory connector, if you check your alternator connector itself then you can see if it's two left one and middle that is used or middle and right one that is used

I replaced the alternator and put it all back together but I pulled out the wires and now the old connector is stuck on the new alternator. Just trying to get that old connector off without having to take everything apart again. Then hoping to be able to rewire new connector and connect to alternator

My volts on my 2014 V6 Pathfinder shows 14.3 when I cut on the engine & while driving but if I idle with the a.c on full blast for a few minutes volts goes as low as 11.9, is my alternator going bad?

@WillieFufu-lo1nb I'm unsure if it's going out or not. Alternators have voltage regulators which determine the Alternator output request. If battery is full and car feels that it doesn't need all 14V charge then the charge level is reduced so it doesn't overcharge. I would assume you have problem when you have poor crank condition. I would have battery tested first and if battery is good then I would suspect poor charge from alternator.

Video was helpful but this is NOT an “easy” job. It’s a pain in the ass and the only way to make it easy is to pay someone else to do it or pull the engine entirely, 0/10 if your alternator goes out on this car trade it in for anything else

I'm watching this video because my friends Pathfinder has a bad alternator. As for myself, before I buy a vehicle the first thing I do is look under the hood. If everything is packed down under the engine I shut the hood and move on to other vehicles. Makes life so much easier.

What I did was I looked up same alternator from ebay , a used one and found one that still had wire harness on to identify which wire suppose to be on which side. I recommend you doing same

For proper procedure you go Nissan dealer and pay them 1500 dollars for labor and maybe $500 for alternator.
