2013 California Fire Season

With one of the driest winters on record, California's 2013 fire season was extremely active. The lack of winter rains resulted in dry conditions across the state leading to a number of unseasonably large wildfires early in the year and a continued trend of above normal fire activity.

My son was an Orange Suit fighting along side Cal Fire Crews at all the major 2013 fires, including the Mountain and Rim fires. It was a childhood dream of his to be a Firefighter. Then at season's end he was transferred back to general population. Apparently a letter to him mentioned the moderator of his Facebook page posting photos found of him while he was at the fires. I hope and pray that those in charge at his old camp haven't permanently crushed his dreams.

I have the out most respect for firefighters as a whole, not only do they do there job they put their life on the line! Having said that I would like to give recognition to the unseen and little talked about firefighters that do the fighting that no one see; that being the inmate firefighters they are true heroes. They make little money and most of them do it because they love doing it and it gives them a sense of accomplishment. Again thank you firefighters for all you do especially the inmate "wildland firefighters"
