No reason to get a pin number. Just change the vin. Pin number only needed when new.

if you are working on 18 and newer I would get a scan tool that supports autoauth. (autel maxisys series or Top Don Phoenix series) If you are mostly older than 2018 The Top Don top scan has great capabilities for the cost. Uses an app on your phone, The foxwell seems to be doing good also.
