I did this job today in about 40mins. You do not have to take out the drivers seat. Its a tight job. You cannot see the T20 torx and its way up there. It's the connector to the upper left of the blower motor connector. I did not remove the brake pedal to remove the resistor but ended up doing so when reinstalling it. So just remove it at the beginning. I used a similar setup, small ratchet, small extension. Getting the top clip of the resistor to seat when reinstalling was my biggest issue, but became instant with the pedal removed. I put a small amount of "stick tac" from the dollar store on the t20 screw to hold it into the torx bit. That way it doesn't fall off as easily when reinstalling. This is the best video explaining the options out there for doing this job and making extra room when needed. It helped me alot. Thanks.

Thanks for the video! Just did this on a 2012 ford focus and this was very helpful. Couple tips: removing the gas pedal is super easy and gives you some room but it’s not 100% necessary. I didn’t need to remove the seat and just rolled it all the way back. T20 was too big for me and a t15 fit nicely idk why. Thanks again and to anyone reading this: good luck and have fun

Very helpful man. Ty. My only problem with taking out the drivers seat is that I can find any information on disconnecting my air bags without messing stuff up

Thanks for this, I bought a T20 Allen key from Amazon for less than 3 quid which made it much easier to use on the T20 screw holding it in. Resistor is in same place on UK cars so no pedals in the way.

mine has one and two speeds but not 3 and 4 , is this the resistor

Thanks for the video. I'm having an odd issue, where the blower motor will cut out almost instantly now if on setting 4, starting to cut out more frequently on setting 3 and works normally on 1-2. Pretty sure that's blower motor failure. Should I replace the resistor when I replace the motor, or am I good to keep the factory one in?
@baghdadwarrior0393 жыл бұрын
Just wondering too how can I tell if the motor or resister is bad? Blower doesn’t blow on all settings 1-4, nothing.
@showreadycarsllc44982 жыл бұрын
That is correct will. The resistor is bad.

just curious why this guy said the resistor is bad...if it doesn't work on 4 then how could it be the resistor? Would love an update...
@davidickes46212 жыл бұрын
@@CAplayer421 exactly. Hi speed doesn't run through the resistor. So no speed at all is a bad blower motor. Unless it's a wiring problem of course.

Did you get it figured out and fixed? Mine doesn't work in neither 1-4 😮😢

Should I replace this part if there is no AC, but there is pressure and freon comes out when I hit the release valve so its got pressurized freon and stuff.
@chancetolbert4852 Жыл бұрын
If your blower fan doesn't work it's either this, a relay or the blower motor
@chancetolbert4852 Жыл бұрын
If it blows air but doesn't blow cold it could be the AC compressor, freon, a relay or the temp controller

Update, I had to replace the compressor. Thanks!

CAn you elaborate perhaps in a video bro
@aaronkowalewski659 Жыл бұрын
@Morrow Jack You can reach the blower resistor from under the dash, its a blind reach. Make sure to use a magnetic torx 20 bit. Its a single screw. I don't do KZbin videos. I'll try to find the video that showed me how to do this. It's a tight spot but completely doable. Im 6'3 and 240 lbs, so if someone my size can do this, it's 100% doable.
