That sounds nice. I have a 2012 GL550 with a muffler delete, sounds good, but now having the resonators deleted adn and x pipe put in. Getting it back tomorrow...can't wait to hear it startup

So did you tune it to remove the pipes? I gotta ml550 2012 v8 biturbo as well, I just don’t want to spend to money to tune it as well 😅. Man these gl/ml550s are such beasts, had the car over 8 months now and I still can’t get enough of it.

@@StephenBrewer89 I had a shop put pipes in place of the cats. Its been running with the CEL on. I haven't done a non fouler but that might be a good idea for now until I get the tune, it's expensive. I've searched around and I think the best bang for buck is Pressertech.

@@BrokeLogic I gotcha that’s not too bad then. Yeah I just hate stuff so expensive for these. I am used to getting a full car back titanium exhaust for like my Evo for 1200$ and a hand made tubular manifold for like 11-1200. This exhaust is super expensive.

@@EdmundoGarcia-n9f none at all unless you were in the back seat. Keep in mind, my cut outs were rear mounted. And I took the factory resonator out and installed a X pipe. If you do the cut outs closer up front, I think it will sings better and be louder, but you might run into drone. But if you do, while she’s in it just close them or only partly open them. Hope this helps man

No issues what so ever it has been great! You will love it if you get one. The 550 models are almost as loaded as you can get and it really shows.

None what so ever. Since it is post -cat there is no affects on not tuning through the muffler.

I can’t remember what the cut outs cost but getting them welded in was just labor. I ran the wires for them.

I have cut outs leading back to the tips, but you could just do a muffler delete and it will sound like this. Also I have a X pipe in place of factory resonator.

@@StephenBrewer89 as I’m trying to understand your message I get lost. Please do not think I am stupid. Lol I research the cut outs and it is part I need to buy. But I don’t think I can do the installation, I have to hire an expert to do it for me. If I do a muffler delete, I don’t think it will pass inspection. I reside in tx. I may have to go with cut outs. Do you know what is a good brand and affordable as well. Thanks,

@@denniscaballero8148 no problem! Not sure about texas but a muffler here has nothing to do with emissions or inspections. Check local laws. You may just need your Cats in tact. Hope that helps. I went with cheap cut outs and have had good luck. QTP are very good ones but cost some money. Hope that helps!

Where did you run the vacuum hose through? I don’t know how to get the hose out of the trunk.

They were electric. Left side of the trunk I went from the trunk to under the car to the air tank area. The cutouts were right in front of that.

If I were to do it again, I would move them up front behind the secondary O2 sensors. I think that would sound better

Thanks man I appreciate it I was going to go QTP but ended up going a knock off. Can't remember if I found them on ebay or Amazon but I have no complaints. I can't remember the brand or anything. If I could do it over I would put them more towards the front so it would be louder. I will be moving them maybe in the spring or summer.

@@StephenBrewer89 do you have these placed behind the resonator? By the front you mean after the cats probably. Thats what I plan on doing. That is if they'll fit. I didn't end up getting the GL but picked up a 2013 S550 with the M278 same engine you have so I'm assuming sound will be similar. I was thinking of getting knockoff but I've read about lack of waterproofing issues. So might go with dual qtp after the cats.

@@basmatic_rice hey man yeah my knockoffs are working just fine but I may be lucky. Qtp is for sure better. And mine are actually at the back of the car right before the muffler. I will be moving them up front like behind the cats correct. S550 is a sweet ride man! I would love to have a 2019 or so s class. Hope that helps lmk! Post a video when done!

@@StephenBrewer89 yeah bro I ended up getting an exhaust setup and I'll post a video shortly. I went with valvetronic vacuum actuated mufflers. It sounds great but they are a little quiet wide open so I'm looking for downpipes either catted or cattless. Where did you get your downpipes from bro? Looking for something affordable.

Hello I have some questions.. I'm on a market on getting a 2013 mercedes gl550 and I found one but with high mileage 155k mileage.. Hows the reliability of this vehicle and what's to look for in terms of issue

Mine was at about 75k when I purchased it. I’ve had it about 4 years and now only like 85k on it. So it is not too high. But regardless, make sure you can find proof of services. The trans service is pretty important. Transfer case is a easy DIY as well as diff services. All that stuff gets overlooked. I have been lucky with mine I have just done maintenance and that’s all. Stuff is still pricey for these, as far as oem parts. But I think it’s worth putting on OEM for a vehicle this nice. You will love it.

@@ernanv24 yeah man. Not sure about your level of mechanic skills, but the more you can do yourself the more the vehicle will be worth to you because you will be saving tons of money. A serpentine belt is about a 350$ job at the dealer. Literally one of the easiest belts I have ever done and the oem part was like 50$. A basic oil change on these is about 300 at the dealer. Using mobil 1 and an oem filter you can get out around 100$. Just rotors and pads oem cost me 1300$ that was me doing it myself. The dealer said 2700$ at the time I called them that’s labor and parts. Look up oem parts websites cause it’s cheaper than buying from a dealer. If you get one you will love it. And throw a nice exhaust and a tune on it and you will really fall in love.
