Thanks my guy! I am not mechanically inclined whatsoever but because of your easy to follow video, I just replaced the alternator on my daughter’s 2013 Accord. Thanks man

This was a good explanation. I know it may have been hard to show all bolts and stuff but it makes it very informative

Very important NOTE. There is a battery current sensor on the negative terminal that cause a false bad alternator diagnosis. Make sure its plugged in well. Part#BSC106

What kind of alternator do I need to buy? I have the same car but I’m not sure what alternator I need to buy if you could please reply
@SemiAutoMedic2 жыл бұрын
There are a couple options. It's best you call your local parts store and have your VIN(Vehicle Identification Number) handy. With your VIN they can tell you exactly what you need.

Great video! What is the torque spec for the alternator power cable bolt(12mm)? Thanks!
@SemiAutoMedic4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. I wouldn't go any tighter than 25-35 ft lbs on the power and ground studs.

How hard would it be to just change the alternator pulley. I have a funny noise coming from mine but alternator still works like it should. Changed the tensioner pulley but that didn’t fix my problem. Can hear grinding when I rotate alternator pulley
@SemiAutoMedic3 жыл бұрын
You'd have to pull the alternator out to do it anyway. and if your hearing noise from the pulley the alternator bearing is likey the source of the noise.

My friend and I tried to take the tensioner out of my car (exact same as the video) and that Allen bolt seems like it might be seized in there or something we couldn’t seem to break the torque to remove the bolt.
@mygoatlife61914 жыл бұрын
I’m also having trouble finding a replacement for that bolt
@SemiAutoMedic4 жыл бұрын
It's usually going to be pretty tight but once you break it free its usually easy to remove. You may just need a breaker bar. And as for finding another bolt you may have some luck with a salvage yard but I'd highly recommend getting a new one from honda. Probably just be a few dollars. Good luck.

That Allen bolt was extremely hard to remove on my 2015 Accord. I thought I was going to break it off. I even put WD40 on it when it went back it,...but it was brutal going in as well. No corrosion problems here in CA. Odd.

How much was the alternator? Sorry if you addressed this in the video; I have to keep my volume off but need to get a jump start on the alternator.

In my local area I use O'Reilly Auto and they run from $330-440 remanufactured or new

Semi and Auto Medic yikes. That’s what I’ve been seeing online. I think I’m gonna try replacing the clutch pulley on mine and see if that works.

Depending on what's wrong with it you may be able to get it rebuilt at your local alternator/starter repair shop for under $100. Just a little more downtime.

At what mileage do these alternators start to fail? Thank you
@SemiAutoMedic3 жыл бұрын
There are many factors that contribute to alternator failure. But on average about 7 years or 80k-150k miles.

I just did the alternator on my 2015 honda accord and battery and now its it check charging systems...so me being me I tool the alternator back off and got anther something al now my alternator is chargeing and I have a oem honda battery and the light on the dash is still on idk what it could be
@SemiAutoMedic4 жыл бұрын
The ground(-) wire battery terminal has a sensor on it and is prone to go bad. It will illuminate the battery fault light on the dash(instrument cluster) and will inhibit proper battery charging. If anyone wants a durable alternator that is built with quality and more power reserve for less stress on your alternators life in the long run hit up jsult alternators on Google or Facebook. They are beasts for the same exact price as these oem garbage low output alts.
