2013 Jeep grand cherokee Cranks but doesn’t start (Fuel pump relay).

2013 grand cherokee limited 3.6 would Crank but wouldn’t start. Replaced the fuel pump relay which I bought on Amazon and problem was solved.

The fuel pump relay is directly soldered to the engine fuse box circuit board aka TIPM. I had to completely disassemble the fuse box. It's in thin layers pancaked all together to make one complete fuse box. 2011 TIPM does have it soldered. Pos Jeep/Dodge Chrysler fix is cutting the bottom fuse box wires & tapping into the harness wires & installing at 50amp (large) external relay with a connected 20am mini fuse. There's also a 20am mini fuse at the mutifuse aka block fuse (+ charging/junk post) thick positive wire. It's hidden wrapped in electrical tape. Hard to see but can be felt by hand & it stick out as "wtf is that" The TIPM will shut down no matter where you're driving. DGAF. Shuts off at red lights, yields, parked, waiting for the train to pass, in a drive thru, at idling & the worst scariest is when at highway speeds will turn off. The digital guages & electronics still work (HVAC, stereo, sun/moon roof, windows, head lights all work. The analog needles (RPM, speed, coolant) drop dead. Fck you Dodge,Jeep Chrysler Mopar. Nice video, but I have two questions here. 1. Did the engine light come out the first time when this issue occurred? 2. Did the engine start up from the second, the third attempt or kept failing every time and making this sound when you try to start up the engine? My questions before replacing the relay?

No lights came on when this happened. One day without warning it just cranked and it wouldn’t start. One time it took me an hour to get it started. It would happened more often until it wouldn’t start no more.

This is the part I bought on amazon. Omron Relay G8JN-1C6T-F-R-DC12 12VDC 30. It’s an external fuel pump relay sitting in front of the PCM.

@@jamesark9926 There was a recall for the fuel pump relay for the Grand Cherokee and a few other vehicles a few years ago. They way they fixed that issue on the fuse box is as follows; - A new externally mounted relay and wire harness will be installed to bypass the fuel pump relay that is internal to the totally integrated power module.- So my Grand Cherokee was fitted with the external fuel pump relay when the recall happened. That relay went bad recently and that’s when I made this video. I believe the recall was for Grand cherokees and Durangos.

Mines haven’t had any issues since I replaced it. It’s been around 2 years. Make sure it’s not a bad part which happens every now and then. I would also check the wiring going to the fuse box. It’s weird that it worked and then stopped.

Same thing here, found an aftermarket replacement relay (that I’m yet to test if faulty). Worked for a couple days and failed again while driving.

Changing this part will not solve your problem this is a misleading video

I’m pretty sure there are other problems causing the crank no start issue. This is just one of them. I suggest just checking your car make, model and year online on different forums. Not sure what you grand cherokee is doing but mines is a 2013 and I’ve had very few problems. The relay being one of them. It was a recall.
