Outlander sport is rated by consumer's reports as one of the most reliable SUV's and it also is a very safe according to crash test results.

I own the 2013 LE FWD. It is my second Mitsubishi. So far, I love it. You have to remember with this car you are consciously sacrificing power for fuel economy and a smaller carbon foot print upon the Earth. To me, that is much more important than how fast & powerful an auto is. Also, this car not only incorporates recycled materials into it's body, it has a very high safety rating and is affordable to insure. It's looks are a bit edgy and unusual which I like as well. I am a woman, so the interior of the vehicle fits me perfectly & getting in and out of the vehicle is easy & comfortable. I LOVE the heated seats. I wish the heater would kick out heat faster though, especially this year of sub zero winter where I am at.

I can see "Sport" This thing is very nimble and fun to drive. It gets a bad rap because every reviewer spews the same nonsense. Once your use to the CVT trans you can remedy the flat spot in the 20-30 mph zone without even using the shift levers. You tip into the gas pedal half way without flooring it and it picks up fine. You learn it within a 100 miles or less of use. I bought one for my folks and I will get one next year. Its fun and easy to buy and while not world class, its nicely done and reliable. I've spend $40K before and got less. Plus the AWD system is one of the best.

@CountrySixStringer 10 жыл бұрын
Alright, I've owned the Sport now for a few months and I think it's getting kind of a bad wrap. After getting to know how this trans works and the flip levers (which many say are a waist) I'm getting around just fine in this vehicle. The levers are kind of fun when you need to pass or get off to a good start. When getting on the freeway, I just lever down and keep it in first and second a little longer and I'm flyin'. I know it's just a 2.0, but you can make it happen in this vehicle. Have fun in it. I didn't get the GPS after reading about it and how it's so 2003. I would agree with the higher level of engine noise at times...I think that some of that comes from the body not shutting out the outside. The vibration...I kind of like it and just another way of monitoring the engine. I'm not saying this car is perfect, I am saying that it's a good car for the money. Try the paddles if you test drive one. It's kind of like a motorcycle and shifting down when needing to pass or what ever..

I have the ES 5-speed and am in love with it. It's the perfect car for me at this point in my life. It hauls what I need it to, it reasonably reliable, good on gas, and handles good (for what it is). This is my first Mitsu and I'm sold. I would get another one.

+PistonFreak Good thoughts. I love the way this car looks. It is the most aggressive and masculine in its class but I can certainly can tell that it lacks in other areas based on what you're saying. I ended up getting a VW Tiguan that I absolutely love. My comment was more directed at the manner in which the car was presented in this review. I appreciate you reply and constructive review. It's time for Mitso to step it up!

Thanks for the feedback. Our new style of review is purely in response to our changing business model as 2tR continues to grow at an astronomical rate. However, we do understand that several of our original fans appreciate our older, less-polished, work for a variety of reasons and it is our promise not to forget our roots. Just hang in there, it'll be worth the wait :)

The 2003 my mother fell asleep at the wheel at 70mph and it saved her life crashing into a transport van and the car held up very well. my mom walked out with no injuries and the car held up well , I will stand buy mits till the end

I have to agree to some degree. This channel quickly became my favorite for video reviews because of the POV walk around and interior tours. Long sequences without cuts make the videos feel genuine, as if we were looking at it for the first time. I do enjoy the new music and graphics...and shirts :]

I needed to add my 2cents about this vehicle. I have owned 2 honda Eements , One of the very first off the production line and recently purchased a 2008 five years ago..I did not think there could be a more pleasurable vehicle until I drove the outlander .I had a buick encore 4cyl , equinox 6cyl, enclave 6cyl. and I own two mustangGT's. The element was my go to car for long distance and runabout AWD.In comparsion to that , The 4.2L delivers a little more on acelleration ,but in retrospect, the outlander will surpass the element on gas milage, smooth driving , & all this in front wheel drive mode, feels like my equinox ,quiteness, and once you get over the accelleration difference it performs quite well taking the hills in a rural setting , you just have to know how to drive this baby . It does not starve power for my liking and less trips to the fuel station .I just picked this 2013 AWD up with 45,000 miles one owner., last month Nov,2023.I really like the awd 4 wheel drive button. The car handles much better than the honda element. l

We own a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2.4L GT 4X4 and could not be happier! We purchased it on 10/31/16 brand new. It was $32,940.00 and after Rebates and Discounts it was $26,700.00. Our GT was higher than most as it had the Optional Navigation Package (updated new Nav and Audio System not like the one shown here), LED Interior Illumination Package, Upgraded LED Fog Lights to match the HID Headlights, Cargo Package, Remote Engine Start, Park Assist Package, Chrome Package, Sport Package with Larger Rear Spoiler and Steel Fuel Door, Mud Guards, Rear Silver Bumper Under Cover and more!!! It drives like a true SUV and sits high and does not feel like a wagon or hatchback (Honda HR-V) when you drive it. The ride is surprisingly good and handling is confident and we are getting around 26-27 mpg combined driving. You cant find a new SUV with all these Features, Capabilities, Safety, and Warranty for $27,000.00 loaded with everything that we wanted. The Panoramic Roof is so open and airy and the 710 Watt Rockford Fosgate Audio is amazing sounding. We also own a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage ES CVT that we purchased new on 7/24/15 and now has 13,500 miles on it and we absolutely love it. I wanted a small car that was loaded with every option and feature and the Mirage was perfect. We got the top trim ES with CVT and the optional Navigation & Back Up Camera Package, Chrome Package, Cargo Package, Exterior Appearance Package, Front & Rear Park Assist Package, and many more Accessories. All the other cars in the class I looked at cost anywhere from $2,000.00 to $4,000.00 more when loaded out and you could not get alot of the features that the Mirage offered. Plus the Rebates and Dealer Discount basically paid for all the extra Options and Accessories mine came with . For example even the base trim had Auto Climate Control (2017 has manual controls), AC, PW, PL, PM, Am FM CD and Ipod USB Hook Up in the glove box. On top of all this you get the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty and 37 city and 44 highway mpg and 40 combined. I average 43 in the city and 47 on the highway but can top 50 if careful. Every owner for the most part exceeds what Mitsu claims for MPG. So I say if you are thinking about a Mitsubishi go for it. The new Outlander Sport is a true feeling SUV with selectable 4X4 with a button (2WD, Auto 4X4, 4X4 Lock) and loaded with features, safety (great crash scores even on the Small Overlap it earns an Acceptable Rating) and an amazing warrnaty. Also most all Mitsubishi owners love their cars as a girl I know at work has a 2011 Lance with well over 100,00 miles on it and still running strong no issues. Also if you go to KBB owner reviers you can see a 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage ES CVT with over 220,000 miles on it (he has a picture to prove it) with no issues to speak off and only regular Maintenance. Pic the car that is best for you not what people tell you is good and bad. When ai drove the Mirage I loved it and when we saw our Outlander Sport it was beautiful and we fell in love with it. Then when we drove it and it sealed the deal, you cannot beat the price, features, reliability and rebates Mitsu gives and their cars are proven to drive a very long time!

The car has plenty of power. I've taken mine on very technical trails. It's not a circuit or drag car. It also has 8.5 inches of ground clearance which will eat a juke and mini for breakfast. The rvr is the best. If you want even more power use the paddles.

One thing I like about your older reviews was that you show off the car's interior from a point-of-view perspective instead of fixing the camera in one or two locations. It makes much easier to follow what is being said about a feature when you can see it as you would if you were sitting in the vehicle.

Its a great vehicle. Great gas economy, good power considering the type of vehicle it is. Paddle shifters, the AWC is amazing, I like how you can switch to 2wd. I also have a few things about it I dont like. Its weak points are the interior quality of materials and assembly. It looks nice but has flaws. Doors rattle when the radio is on at a normal volume. The cloth used for the door panels and arm rest get dirty easy. The tailgate doesnt have a 4 bolt license plate holder, so the plate slams against the paint and scratches the tailgate, I had to bend the plate up so it floats. The memory stick support for the stereo has issues and stops/freezes when playing mp3s from a memory stick randomly. (not sure why). Bluetooth audio is awesome though. I took it offroad and it did amazing on a very technical trail. Overall I'd rate it a 7.5/10

I enjoyed the video.. Yes what is being said is true, but after a few days of driving the outlander sport / mini SE lol issues faded away and for the first time in a long time I truly learned to enjoy the CUV. I've had 7 Mitsubishis and this is my favorite. In two years I'll either keep it or buy the Buick ENCORE, but I'm leaning on keeping my Sport / mini.... BTW I do a lot of driving and I enjoy driving this CUV over all the other Mitsubishis I've owned.I wish I had my 73 Dodge Charger :-)

great review. I had a 2002 Galant that I absolutely loved and it was a great car. Easy to maintain and got decent gas mileage. When I had got a new car, I passed my Galant down to my brother. It had 180,000 miles and when I had bought in 05, it only had 42,000 miles. Too bad they killed off the Galant. I think they should really redesign and revamped the Galant and it can complete against the Camry and Accord like it once did during the late 90's - early 2000's.

I bought an XLS (FWD V6) in 2011 for a friend. It's not the best handling or refined vehicle but the price was excellent and the mechanicals are right up there with Toyota/Honda. The XLS is not the midget model and it does need a V6 - 150bhp I4 is ridiculous for a car that size. But as you say, there are better options out there - they do cost a lot more though.

Like your opinions and facts of the cars like other reviews you've done, but I do miss the first-person perspective. If I may suggest: Intro is fine, walk-around the exterior is ok, but clips and zooms on parts of the vehicle needs to be a second or so longer. As for the interior, "POV time!" Thats what stood this channel out from the rest. And for the "test drive" I believe it would be for the best to point the camera towards the road, as if we were the passenger on your rides.

I know this is old but, the engine in the base lancer, the lancer ralliart, and the lancer evolution x are the same. The only differences are that the base lancer doesn't have a turbo and that the ralliart has a single scroll turbo while the evo has a twin scroll. And the same 2013 outlander sport model applies to even 2019. The engine may be small, but you can turn it into an evo suv 🤷‍♂️

Too bad they don't sell the diesel engine in North America. Would not take much effort because the overseas diesel versions are assembled on the same assembly line in Illinois. Would make it the only NA diesel small SUV and would get the best fuel mileage by a lot. Note: it is called the RVR or the ASX in other countries.

Actually interior quality is very important. Speak for yourself not the general car buying population who do show and voice concern about all aspects in a car, you don't represent other individuals. Also, if interior quality didn't matter then Rolls Royce or Bentley would be able to get away with cheap plastic in their cars but that's not how things work is it now?

who cares about how soft the interior feels, you're driving inside a car not sitting on a couch playing a wii.

In Europe this is called the ASX and comes with a 150 hp diesel engine and 6 speed transmission. I think that suits the car better than this weak petrol engine and the CVT transmission.

the reason for the ride not being as good as you want it to be is so you change it to your liking ....bet if you put the evo rims a body kit and do mod the motor just like the old days

This reviewer is out to destroy Mitsubishi with his negative report, however, he is unprofessional in his evaluation of this vehicle. Those of us who are mitsubishi fans and owners will not be influenced by negative reviews. Performance is more than horsepower. The performance of any vehicle is a combination of horsepower, transmission gearing, electronics, driveline, etc...

These could be such awesome little SUVs if only mitsubishi gave them a PROPER engine!.... They look better than anything in the class and have lots of nice features. But the powertrain is very disappointing.
