And even today I bought a SF848 in yellow. 2012 with 2.3k miles! I love the MV Brutale (the exuahst is amazing, I love the angel wing) triples have the fantastic medium between i4. But! in terms of looks, I think the Duc(k)ati takes the crown IMO.

Can you rotate the hub with a spanner and completely slack the chain to get it off? It really depends on how much slack you can manage. I know some guys get the perfect combo of sprocket size and links so they can either rotate the hub forward or to the rear to change the ride height and wheel base. If that won't work, yeah you'd have to chop and replace the master link every time you want to change the front sprocket.
@abnx96707 жыл бұрын
My Duc SF to get dialed in required: Raising fork tubes by about 6mm, termi slip ons, anti-gravity lithium battery, 14t front sprocket, and Pirelli supercorsa tires with steep profile. It certainly isn't lazy anymore, but no where near as crazy as the Brutale 800rr I tested out. That thing felt like a little crazy toy, fun as hell, but over 100mph I'd be suspicious of it's intentions.

how would these two bikes compare to the yamaha FZ8 or the Triumph Street Triple? As much as I like these bikes, I would find it hard to justify the much higher cost unless there is really a significant advantage in performance.
@kawaduc10 жыл бұрын
The Brutale is appealing, but the plastic tank that comes with the warning: 'we recommend using only ethanol-free fuel' is a real red flag to anyone who has experienced the dreaded ethanol-induced tank expansion. In SoCal, ethanol-free fuel is not a real option, so neither is the MV. Ducati has at least learned a bit from their bad plastic tank saga and have at least modified the Streetfighters tank to minimize (but not totally eliminate) the potential problem.
@Texarmageddon10 жыл бұрын
MV just went and admitted it.... Which let's be honest... I doubt it'll be much different from the Duc tanks... IF you don't want tank expansion switch from both company

I'd put the stock front sprocket back on for daily driving, then use the -1 for trackdays. My Speed Triple has ridiculous acceleration with that -1/+3 combo. The Diavel and 1098 would be hell in a hand basket.

I love the MV but my body will never tolerate getting cramped up on another sport bike. My guess is that the MV makes more torque at a more usable power band and makes up for the difference in that way.
@KelvinSmoke11 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly...unfortunately the clutch slave cylinder doesnt let me cheat and just slide the sprocket off the shaft with the chain on it-and no room to wiggle the chain off the sprocket- making me think Id have to de-link the chain everytime i wanted a switch...unless there is a trick i havent learned yet. Can you undo and redo the clip type master links, i dont think you can?
@MotoErgoSum11 жыл бұрын
I bet gearing is a BIG part of why the Ducati isn't nearly as exciting. Add 2-3 teeth to the back sprocket or drop one up front and I bet it'll be REALLY exciting.

If I'm new at bikes, is it ok to buy Ducati ??? I heard they have some safety systems and stuff.
@decemberferret10 жыл бұрын
The best safety system on any bike won't save you when a car pulls out in front, or from inattention or inexperience. I would HIGHLY suggest NOT buying either of these for your first bike. Start with something small until you know what you're doing or you'll be getting scraped off the road.
@DarwinAllen9 жыл бұрын
OF ONN You can buy a Ducati, just be smart about what model it is. The smaller displacement Ducati Monsters are actually fantastic starter bikes. That said, you may as well get some cheap piece of crap for a starter bike since it's probably gonna get dropped.
@decemberferret9 жыл бұрын
Darwin Allen yeah the cheap part is something i forgot to mention. Not to mention, a lot of the bikes like ninja 250s hold their value, and easy to sell later, because they're always in demand
@killezbeats10 жыл бұрын
who is the best ? Ducati 848 or ducati streetfighter ??
@MoonBernie10 жыл бұрын
It all depends how you want to use them. that is also the reason why I disagree with the test above here... How tall are you, how much do you weight. Do you want to use it daily for going to your work or only on sundays on a short trip on perfect roads..... For example I preferre the Duc streetfighter above the Agusta. I'm 1.75 and my weight is around 67 kg. I have long legs and rather short upperbody, And I ride a bout 45.000km a year on a motorcycle. The Agusta didnt feel right. Strangly enough it didnt fellt finished, not relyable, predictable enough to my taste... Especially on the Belgian convex surfaces on the roads... about the 848 I woudlt compare it to a streetfighter. Hard as a bone with very low steering, hard on the neckmuscles....If you want to have fun on a closet circiut ok, or short trips.... but for daily work.... Altho In 92 I went to Bologna on vacation on a 888sp what is around 1200km.... If you are ready to suffer :)

i have both the street fighter and the dragster in the 800 cc class and the Ducati beats the MV, but the mv 1090 brutale i have, is the most demonic, powerful, and scary bike I've ever owned or ridden. I currently own 15 bikes I'm 60 years old this August, and I began riding at age 10. The street fighter is much more relaxed, and the MV Augusta 800, it's actually a very strenuous bike to ride very naughty, but for half an hour it's fun. For three hours you're going to stay in bed the next day. they 800 MV Augusta is actually in my opinion a piece of crap compared to the 1090 I own. The 800 up until 2018 was covered in some kind of weird latex instead of paint and everybody's petrol tanks kept expanding and ruining the paint. Most owners would have to replace the tank three times every five years. As to the 1090 cc 4 cylinders it's a dream bike but the triple cylinder 800 MV Augusta series are in my opinion as an owner and longtime rider, truly a piece of over rubbish compared to the Ducati
