Your video saved me about 300 bux, lol. I think it took me 40 min to do the whole job. When I unplugged the wiper arm though from the clockspring, I didnt need to unplug the cable. It was long enough to just lay the wiper arm across the display shelf behind the wheel while I worked. One note, the steering wheel position sensor attached to the back of the clockspring had to be moved to the new clockspring I bought direct from Nissan. I think someone may have replaced it before as there are 2 tabs on sensor housing that center the sensor to the clockspring. one's wide and one's narrow and they fit into keyholes on the clockspring. When I took my old one off I noticed that these tabs were not in their slots.

This video saved me $800 by doing this myself. I bought the part online for $100 and purchased a Trox socket set on Amazon for $15, since I could not find these anywhere, but online. I have the normal Trox set for my daughter's Jetta. The Nissan dealership wanted $1000 for the full job, and it only took me about 45 minutes. The hardest part is putting the plastic cover back on and lining it up. I wish you did not jump the camera around. It was hard to see how to take off the clips, which really just requires that you push in the tabs, but still a great video and thank you for sharing. I normally look for online videos and based on what I need to bu as far as tools go, to do the work myself, before considering a shop.

I cannot thank you enough for making this video. It is so concise, clear, and informative. My wife has the same make and model and I just replaced the clock spring because her horn didn't work. This video saved us hundreds of dollars in labor and diagnostic fees. I'm a carpenter by trade but not much of a mechanic. Thank you again, I really appreciate it.

Did you end up having to recalibrate your steering angle sensor (the part he almost forgot that attaches to the back of the clock spring) after you replaced the clock spring? I'm about to do the clock spring on my wife's 2011 Rogue.
@roadpar Жыл бұрын
@@TortureBot I used the same piece from the old Clock Spring. You have to be careful, it fits only one way. It has like a guide built in the plastic. I don’t really remember very well, but I remember I almost installed it the wrong way (the back plastic piece). O the other hand, I don’t know what recalibration you are referring to.

Very helpful especially the part about the caution warnings, I never knew that’s what you’re supposed to do with them lol And the person recording was very good at getting all the angles so we could see everything you did. keep up the quality work and entertainment guys!

VERY VERY IMPORTANT ADD ON HERE... the black round thing you took off the old and put on the new is called steering wheel position sensor.... it's very important to line the two tabs with clock spring slots otherwise your traction control light will come off and on and car performance drops!! I work for Chevrolet / Mazda. In my 20 some odd years I've never had to pull a wheel on a Nissan yet. But I got to do it for a friend tomorrow. Clock spring, I guess that's a common problem on these? At least I'm thinking clock spring, horn, driver airbag and cruise control code, and all three of those things go through the clock spring. I was going to run to my shop real quick and grab my steering wheel puller but I wanted to see what bolts threaded into the steering wheel with the puller, but your wheel just slid right off without a puller? Again never worked on nissan, I've always had to use the pullers to get them off. I'm still going to go grab it but did yours really come off like that? There wasn't any loosening in between scenes? And regardless, was it threaded or did it have the bolt with the foot that you put in to pull it off if it's needed.. Just wondering, like I said I'm going to grab some tools anyways but I think I only have the bolts not the pieces with the foot. Those were GM specific I believe? And those are in the back somewhere. Also that airbag being held in with Torx is absolutely beautiful. GM has these stupid metal spring clips and you got a fish around the back of the wheel with a pocket screwdriver to release the damn things. Either way awesome video, thank you.

Cycle the key 3 times. Turn on and when the airbag light turns on, turn off the key and count to 8 and do this 3 times. On the fourth try, the light will stay solid and then turn off. Do not turn on the vehicle, just cycle the key. There are some youtube videos on how to do this.

Would this procedure be the same for a 2011? Where did you get the clock spring from? My wife’s car horn will go off constantly if the steering wheel is straight, air bag light is on, none of the steering wheel buttons work and the volume on the radio constantly goes down and you can only turn the volume back up when turning the steering wheel back and forth, are these accurate symptoms of a bad clock spring?
