You all may need to seriously think about getting new drivers. Type in "First 10-second 2013 Viper". They ran a STOCK Viper to a 10.97. Its all over the interwebs.

Chaz K. Shand Actually it is almost 2/10's of a second faster but still yea, that's not much of a difference between drivers. 4x4forlyfe you also need to realize that not every track setup is the same either. Those at higher elevations will usually run slower times.

That's because Vipers have been out of ALMS for a long time. This is their first year back; they're still working out any issues they have, and adjusting too how the car works, and finding more and more ways to improve it. Just as the Vipers did in ALMS back in the late 1990's-mid 2000's, they will dominate the field. Just wait until they get back in the groove.

You're right, but i think there is still flex to some degree, though that much may cause a problem over time. But I know that even race cars (Le Mans at least) can have a lot of flexibility in their parts, though the latching mechanisms seem to be pretty strong on their end.

By that reasoning, almost everyone has a modded non-stock car. That lady in the Camry with new tires? Modded, that old cab with new tires, modded. Give it a break. While technically true, tires can make a big difference. Everything else about this car is stock. If you took it to a tuner event, they would consider it to be stock... It is stock in that nothing mechanical has been done to it.

I have actually found it to be the exact opposite with street tires at the track versus the street. Taking off at the track with street tires is like drag racing in the rain. You slip all over the place. VHT and the rubber on the track work great for drag radials or slicks but not street tires. I can launch much harder on regular clean cement than I can at the track. Best I can do with streets is about 11.6 (1.85 60 foot) versus 11.1 on drag radials (a 2009 CTS-V)

Slowly roll through the water box (or just go around it if you can on street tires)... then burnout once you are out of it completely. Eliminates water dripping back on the tires from off the fender wells, while sitting at stage. Burning out IN the box slings water everywhere and it has to drip off somewhere and can be unsafe... Don't want any surprise slippage! Good luck!

the launch control is optimised for its factory tires on road surface, not a super grippy fully prepped drag strip so thats probably why it wasnt very useful here

Again, a stock Gen V Viper will NEVER hit low 10's with any kind of tire. As you can see, we had slicks on the car, and were launching all out with and without launch control with no spin. The gearing and low end torque just isn't there.

yes it is easier.. but im my street tires its hard even at drag strip to get good times.. I spin second and have 3rd at drag strip.. now it is faster then on the street,, but what I mean is still takes a good driver and usually the HP to make it up on the top end to run 11s on stock street tires.. its not an easy feat to say anyone can do it.. Pretty much all the cars i see at drag strip running 11s and faster are on drag radials or slicks

Uh, you're wrong. As you see, the Viper has launch control to help it get better 1/4 times. But as a result, it sacrifices a lot of acceleration for no wheel spin. Put slicks on it, and it runs low tens, because it will just grip, and you won't need to use launch control. With a name like "DragTimes", and the posting of this video, I'd expect you to understand something like that; otherwise, you've no right to be posting a video about something you're entirely clueless about.

idk how you drive your car, but even with street tires (nitto 555zr) I am able to launch much harder on the track than the street. Not even a competition. On the street the top of 2nd gear spins, but on the track if I can get the tires warm enough and get the right spot, I can hook 2nd all the way through. I was able to hit a 1.96 60' time, while a buddy with DR's on his ws6 was getting 2.1's and couldn't break the 2s mark. Were you lowering your tire psi on the track with street tires?

The cars are almost identical. 2nd the TA is lighter by a wide margin, has an improved suspension/brakes, and passed the regular Viper's time at the Mazda Raceway by almost 3 seconds which is a massive improvement. why are some people fool to believe that you can take a stock zr1 and drive to the track and goes 10.60. this can only be done under special conditions.a lot of preparation and engine allowed to be cold ,atmospheric pressure and manny other aspects .my friend did this to his stock nissan gtr and went10.78 but was only after 1 hour between runs.

the world record of the quickest bone stock zr1 on a 1/4mile is 10.6s...but both cars are fucking amazing...they both have OHV,they both have about the same HP/lb-ft...the weight is praticaly the same...the only difference is that the viper is a v10 and the corvette a v8 s/c...

That wasn't "stock". That had different tires on it, which is far from factory. The Viper can run 10.2's with better tires, so it would still have your beloved Vette beat. Stock vs stock (straight off the showroom floor) the Viper is the faster car.

It looked colder in the video which contributes to more power and this viper was racing in southern Florida hot and humid so makes for a slower time, and also the driver could have something to do with it how the driver times their shift can pick up a extra tenth of a second so they would need to be same place same driver to have a "fair" comparison

I run my Conti Extremes at 26 PSI to get 1.85 60 foots then spin 2 and then 3 at the track. Andy lower, and you load the edges and spin too much. On the street, I can launch much like I do with my DR's at the track (much harder). The DR's will do 1.6x 60 foots (18 PSI). MPH is the same at 126/127 with either but traction is more limited with street tires at the track.
