Jay, I am NOT a fan of your late night talk show AT ALL. But when it comes to car shows, car talk, let me just say...if you ever decide to go FULL TIME as a host and producer of a major cable or network CAR SHOW, I'll have to put Top Gear (UK and US version) in second and third place because, in my book, YOUR car show would be my NUMBER ONE. You BELONG here, in the garage, you should be America's PREMIERE car show presenter. You are so much fun in this venue, you also know your stuff. Please consider retiring from The Tonight Show and doing this full time. This IS where your HEART is, and it shows. You make car nuttery into something magical.

What really makes me mad is when they are all trying to be "European Quality" with design and materials. Corvette and now Viper using fine Italian leather that Ferrari uses, stitching, etc. Why not make it all american for whatever it is. Get some fine hides from american cows and buffalos, and have the Amish make the interior since they make great furniture. The bottom line is, have it all american and just make it better.
@MrVocalist56711 жыл бұрын
No Jay.. the problem is that this CAN'T rival any other supercar in the world. These new Vipers, albeit powerful, are just so noncompetitive against lots of supercars. It's really unfortunate because the name Viper carries alot of weight and in many race car related situations it won't come out on top. ;(
@urparanoia11 жыл бұрын
As he said this car is a third of the price of many of the others such as Ferrari, Lamborghini etc. Compare the price of a Viper to a Bugatti Veyron ! When you get to this level they are all great
@urparanoia10 жыл бұрын
For the $ it can't be beat. Owning a Viper is a real possibility for the upper middle class while a Bugatti Veyron is not even a remote possibility. Besides you are just talking and will never own such a car any more then I will. Your talk reminds me of the years when I was into muscle cars, drag racing etc. We would complain about radical cams and such on the street. A older gentlemen once told me if you really want to impress your friends tell them the cam is far more radical than it is, lie about the compression ratio and tell them it has 4:88 gears even if it has a 3:23 ratio since most of the "racing" is actually "bench racing" they won't know the difference and you will have a far more drivable car that lasts longer. Buy the Viper or maybe two. With the $ left over that would have been spent on the Bugatti buy, a house in the North for the summer and another in the South for winter and retire on all the $ that is left over. Kids !

The key word in your final sentence, was generally, when it comes to cars, especially performance cars, we pay for the name. If you invest in a rolls royce, im pretty sure that the viper could drop it in a straight line and round corners... why is it so expensive? Because you pay for the luxury, you pay for the V12 under the hood, and you buy into the spirit of ecstasy. Its the same with a ferrari or lambo. You own a piece of art work and history that the viper cannot claim.

I might be mistaken, but from what I understand, Chrysler is misleading regarding the claim about the seats. They make it sound as if the seats are seats from the same company that supplies Ferrari's seats, but the seats are from a Ferrari supplier, but not the company that supplies seats for Ferrari but rather a different component (I think brakes). Also, the Viper was outdone by the outgoing current Corvette model on the track, not good (although some blame the tires used).
