Very clear video. Great audio with outstanding tips. Chatter not excessive yet clear speaking slowly about each point. Materials and tools used shown, but I would like to see more about the oil filter wrench used that fit well on video but wonder how others find correct fitting tool in other parts of the world. Warning do it your own risk suggested for intro and talk about safety a bit more how to use jack stands and jacks. Good mention of the service manual but should say that at the intro for newbies. Thanks for your work, very good video.

An excellent instructional video. I liked the crisp video, especially the close-ups. Your detailed explanation was perfect, from beginning to end. I'm changing oil in my 2012 Corolla for the first time this week. I've done lots of changes on other cars but the paper filter and special filter wrench spooked me a little. After viewing your video I feel confident I won't have any issues. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this.

Be careful with the Nylon filter cap, you can warm up the vehicle first to have it loosen easier but many complain about it being locked on. take your time you'll get this down to 15 minutes report back and go for it Love to hear your outcome. Great video. 3 years later still one of the best. I have a Toyota Avensis Tourer (wagon/estate) 2009. Engine is the 1.8 Valvematic 2ZR-FAE, which very similar to the engine in the video. The advice regarding 0w-20 oil is good. The oil filter tool I have is the Toyota design, and works nicely. It moves the lock tab out of the way, so the filter comes off easy. The Avensis has an under shield with an access door, unlike the Corolla in the video. Still one of the easiest oil changes I have done on a car.

Great step-by-step directions. Was never able to unfreeze my plastic cap over my filter so I had to just replace the oil this time and will struggle with the filter next time or have a oil change place get it off for the first time. I had a cap attachment with socket driver but it slipped on the plastic cap and I even tried channel locks and couldn't get the plastic cap free. But at least I know HOW to do when I finally get someone to muscle it off for me. Thanks

Thank God there are people like you to point the way on how to do things. Of course there will be individuals out there that will contradict you because they are the ones that don't want people to do things themselves and SAVE MONEY !!! I have been doing oil changes since my first car of 1994 Nissan Sentra. I now have a 2012 Toyota Corolla and I think the oil change is the same as your 2013. One thing I would really like to know is where do I put my hydraulic pump jack to support the engine if I am not using ramps like you ????? and do you always use a jack stand for added support ? I have seen the Rhino plastic ramps in Auto Zone. What do you recommend to be a safe play ?

A very good explanation of what can be for some people a daunting task.
@m1accorder
@m1accorder 8 жыл бұрын
It's only a daunting task because yota decided to use oil filter element instead of replacing the entire cartridge like Honda. While yota' method should save owners money since filter element should be cheaper than the entire cartridge, that is not the case in practice as the element costs more than the entire cartridge of common model. In the end, yota ends up complicating the mater and discourage basic DIY folks like me from owning its products. Honda isn't far behind with its underbody aerodynamic panels, that need to be removed to get to the oil filter. It looks like Subaru is the only left with its filter right on top, a perfect location for those using premium oil and want to replace oil filter mid-OCI.
