bjj as a whole is not a spectator sport. this seems boring to the average person but as a bjj practitioner it is a display of high level techniques and stamina.
@xlifewritex7 жыл бұрын
I agree its as boring as fuck. I prefer MMA where you have punches and kicks and some ground work. This just reminds me of some retarded judo event. So bloody boring rolling around on the floor like monkeys. Definately not my idea of an exciting sport. Why the hell would someone ONLY practice this? I can see the point in learning this and adding it to your arsenal as a whole but focusing just on this would bore the hell out of me.
@ajya4627 жыл бұрын
Ahh man clearly you have never done jiu jitsu. It's not for everyone but I think it's a blast. Especially nogi. This match however is lame. I boxed and fought mma for 6 years and I like bjj wayyyy better. Plus, no brain damage yay!!!
@xlifewritex7 жыл бұрын
Aj Yantes i agree no brain damage but why do you like BJJ over sparring with fists and kicks?
@ajya4627 жыл бұрын
Nogi bjj is like wrestling except you get it strangle the dude instead of pin him. It's super fun. Also, unlike striking you can do it at 100% without getting hurt. Additionaly it's the best self defense art. In a striking match everyone has a punchers chance against me even if they have no experience. However if I take it to the ground there is just no way experience can be faked. That's why I like it so much, because you start out getting worked and as months and years go by you start submitting the guys who were making you tap. Finally, I like it because it's a better workout than striking. Much more physically taxing. This was a bad video. Watch some eddie bravo invitational matches and join a bjj class. I promise you will have so much fun, gain confidence, and learn how to rip someone's leg arm or neck off which is always useful lol

I can see why folks would think this is boring. Hell I PRACTICE it 2-3 times a week, and I still think GI jiu-jitsu is hard to watch sometimes. But to outright lambaste a sport you know nothing about, especially one as tremendously complex as this, is ignorant as fuck. And p.s., if this looks pointless/useless to you, it's probably because the two men competing are a couple of the best in the world and their skills cancel each other out. GI or no-GI, they would likely strangle you or snap your arm in half as easy as tying their belt.

+Ysmira Depending on the path taken, it would be much less. A black belt at this level grappling an unskilled opponent would most likely (I would hope) gain an advantageous position and disable them. If there were a reason to break a limb or put them out, it would take 5-10 seconds max.

So few bjj guys have a good stand up game. I wrestled my whole life then started bjj as an adult my takedown and top game are as good as most the blue belts and purple belts. But my bottom game and submissions are are whitebelt level for sure. Look at the shot he takes at the start its begginer at best these guys are great bjj guys though. Imo a lot of bjj guys should spend more time on takedowns and tosses.
@openguardbjj26119 жыл бұрын
I roll with some serious wrestlers who just started Jiu Jitsu. One guy who is near 40 if not bit over, used to work out with Candian Olympic team. He is exactly as you describe. Infact, he won worlds as a white belt. If I let that guy get on top of me, it's a long and tiring round for me. I a purple belt. Another guy, a college All American I roll with is crazy good. This kid owns me and I've been at the Jiu Jitsu thing probably twice a long as him. If he gets on top of me, and he always, it's another long round for me. I can tell the very first roll if a guys wrestled or not. They have great balance and speed, but no bottom game. And, when they do get a bottom game, they are almost unstoppable.
