hello I'm looking at a 2004 chevy tracker 4x4. I live in a part of the country where we get a lot of snow. So wondering how is the 4wd unit on these? basically using it for snow covered roads...

+Joshua Dean you will not go wrong with a Tracker, Sidekick, or Samurai. Very much at home in the snow. The 2 doors do not do well in 2WD because they have so little weight in back. My lifted truck can go off road in up to about 20" of snow. I pull people out but there is not much weight to work with so I have to use a snatch strap.

how do the tracker frames hold up to the abuse?

+Styxx N It's not much abuse really but I did have one problem. I've used this plow on 3-4 different Trackers. The adapter plate for the plow requires no drilling or welding so it just attaches to the existing frame using hooks and L bolts. One of my trucks was rusty and the plow ripped out the bottom of the box frame at the very front. This is where the mount hooks into the frame for its primary support. I just had to weld a reinforcement plate on the front bottom of the box frame. No way it would have happened with out the major road salt issues we have here in Michigan. One of the trucks I plowed with has over 300,000 miles and is my daily driver.

I think the height is about 26". It is high enough to block the lights some.

+Clint East $1000 at Sam's Club in about 1998. I think they are around $1500 now.
