Great vid.! Just had to do the same thing on MY daughter's car. Not the same symptoms, though. She ended up plowing the inside, vertical curb face of a round-a-bout. When picking the car up from the scene of the umfortimate event, I noticed the fluid on the ground & thought it was maybe a busted fitting or a line that was frayed. Got it home & started to assess, & noticed a busted pan. No big deal, right? Wrong! Pulled the pan & a small section of the case came with it. So a tranny R & R was clearly in my future. Your coverage of the job was excellent! No essential items were missed & no redundancies. U seem like a super cool fella.🤘

Are you saying that 13 to 17 has the same automatic trans because I have a new trans that's on a 2016? I wanna put it on my 2013. But ebay listing shows 15 to 17 on transmission but 12 to 17 on motor. Can someone confirm these 6 speed auto trans are the same, just like the motor. It should be m6cf1 auto trans. Just wanna confirm I can relearn if need be because I'm a locksmith with lots of experience. If someone can confirm, I'll buy lunch.

So much easier to remove your cv axles by taking the two lower bolts out of the strut and then folding the knuckle out. No need to mess around with ball joints! I just did a Hyundai Kona tranny swap this week that way.

Great job. This is amazing. My 2015 Elantra went in for an oil leak and they said they had to pull the tranny to actually finish the job. Transmission went out 2 weeks later. Coincidence or not, it’s really weird. It didn’t whine like your car did. It just stopped going into great. I could still reverse though.

Traction and ABS lights can also be an emission issue (yes emission) and since the engine was just installed I’d take it back and have them rescan.

Those 2 lights that are on.have to do with the front suspension, the abs, and the tracking control have to do with the electric power steering, it could be the inner& outer tierod since it works in conjunction you can turn them off by restting it or by taking either battery cable off .

When you put the torque converter bolts into the flex plate did you leave a small gap or did you screw the bolts down all the way into the torque converter? I have a 2005 hyundai elantra and I’m not sure if I need a small gap. There was a small gap when I took the transmission off the old engine.

Just look on the bottom side of motor and see if you would have to remove the subframe. If you do securely hold the motor with jacks or blocks and remove subframe and than do the transmission removal should be close. And yes it will still help you

Similar situation here: giving it gas and I can hear a whine. Mine is a 2003. It sometimes jolts and now I can feel a grind. Only in 3rd gear does it mess up but now 2nd gear and messing up. I would love to put a new tranny in, but I literally just got a $600 job done on the car. I’m in a confused spot

Mechanic replace the fuel pump and it’s still not doing its job. Keep in mind, I just put a new starter in myself. I have a feeling the transmission is somehow causing a hard start

Jack stands: $20/each. The first thing a mechanic should buy. And quality ones, not cheap chinese from Amazon with half done shallow welds The tire sits lower so the car would still drop and squeeze you. Don't put a price on your life bud. And also you are showing this on Internet, where beginners get ideas. I noticed later in the video you added the brick, a little better but a brick can easily crack. One thing is true: these cars are difficult to put a floor jack and a jack stand at same time, not many solid points to lift, other than the reinforced corners. I have a Sonata and a Kona (electric), on both it's hard to find two lifting spots at once. In fact on the Kona it's impossible to put both a floor jack and a jack stand, unless we put under the battery casing which is very risky - I use a long 2x4 to distribute the load

@@Tradrnqi put a used transmission in mine but no i did not reset mine either... however it ran a little strange shifting rough and at crazy high and low RPMs for the first 10 or 20ish miles.. i am assuming it was my TCM doing a little adpative learning on its own.

Our 2013 Elantra makes a similar sound and only when accelerating. My husband is a well skilled mechanic and after seeing your videos and detailed information he is going to install a new transmission. But we would like to know when you replaced your daughter’s transmission did you take the car to the dealer to program the transmission after the replacement reinstall? Please let us know. Side note: I love that your son was out there helping you!

After the install their was no need for programming. As long as you put the same transmission in it than your ecu will run it the same no problem. My kids are always willing to help and love doing stuff with me it’s been so much fun getting my kids involved. I'll be doing this on a '17 Sportage in the next day or 3. Looks to be a very similar process. On the Kia techinfo site, they mention reprogramming the TCM with the new transaxle's oil pressure values. Did you have to do anything like that with yours? Also, it's been suggested I flush the trans coolant lines. Did you do this? Do you know of any other resources or videos I might check out? You skip over a couple spots and I know you say "you can't mess it up" but you're wrong about that, bud. Ha. Thanks again for the video. We're going to try to make something similar for the sporty.

This just had a motor put in so new coolant and no I didn’t have to relearn the eco. However with the battery being disconnected during the whole job will usually reset everything.

Third a cover on the bottom where the trans mounts to the engine. You take the cover off and you’ll have access to the flywheel bolts. You’ll just need to put a socket on the crank and rotate it around to get to all the flywheel bolts. Hope this is helpful and good luck you got this.
