Thanks Bob! Tackled this today on our 2015. For me the most intimidating part was pulling the trim pieces off. I was pretty sure I could figure out the wiring (though your instructions at the desk helped make the faster too), but I didn’t want to accidentally break a trim piece trying to figure out how to disassemble. Hi Bob, followed your instructions for the BeatSonic system, the one change I made was installing a usb port where the 12v power supply is located in the console. I moved the 12v port to the blank location in the glove box, it actually takes the factory 12v port without modification. There is also a blank in there for a standard Toyota switch. While moving the 12v plug may not work for everyone’s needs, it may be good content to show how to access and install switches/power points in this hidden switch panel.

Video was perfect, and I've been loving Android Auto on my 2015... Really appreciate the time you put into this vid. My only issue is the Beat-sonic won't automatically toggle the day/night (white/dark maps), so if I turn the headlight off/on quickly it will then switch to dark mode.

Yes it does charge your phone. If you install on the right side of your steering wheel you won’t get road head.

I have the new 23 GX. it comes with a carplay but it’s a wired mode only. i am absolutely pissed off as to why Toyota would half-assed this!! i hope someone releases a solution in the near future to remedy this. current solutions are bluetooth only and most of them have a lag. this is very noticible when a passenger is watching youtube or netflix during travels. audio / video doesn’t sync. other solutions require audio bypass via RCA cables which potentially impacts the sound quality on our expensive Mark Levinson systems. i hope someone releases a wifi based solution that solves this. really disappointed with the the half-asses solution Toyota has put out after YEARS of people requesting this feature. Your videos are always soooo entertaining. love it!

No mine doesn’t reset. It has been working fine since the install. Only thing i can think of is a loose connection somewhere. Might want to ensure all your plugs are tight.

Bob, I'm experiencing two problems with my 15' GX, maybe it's easy for you but I'm about to go crazy: 1.-My car leans to the right if you see it from behind, in this regard I found that there are a service bulletin indicating to replace the left shock absorber spring. Do you know something about it? and 2.- Why the hell the rear speakers are heard very slowly, I already checked the balance and everything is perfect but the rear speakers are hardly heard compared to the front ones with which you can have a party. Do you have that problem?

1. You have what is known as the KDSS lean. You most likely have a leak in the system causing that. Doesn't matter if you change all your shocks or springs, you'll still get the lean. Your Lexus dealer might do a one-time courtesy to fix it for you if you have a good relationship with your dealership. 2. If you are truly an audiophile, replace the oem piece of sht amp under the seats and all your speakers.

Doe your GX have adaptive cruise control? If so, I have the ultimate mod project in mind. Maybe this is something you maybe able to pioneer. I have installed Comma AI on my unsupported truck (Ram 3500). It’s similar to tesla autopilot. Only prerequisites are: Adaptive Cruise Control and Electric Power Steering. GX is only hydraulic steering as you know. Electric steering upgrades are done all the time. Plus, many upgrade their steering racks to either Tundra or LandCruiser all the time. This got me thinking… 22 and up tundras have lane centering w/ electric power steering. Why can’t we mod the GX with the new Tundra / Sequoia steering rack and gain full utopilot feature? If anyone can pave the way, it would be you!

I love to buy it but I had Vline and it gave me a hard time until I removed it, it even rebooted while I’m driving and caused the check engine light come on, it went away after I turn off the car and turn it back on though.

Not sure why it wouldn't. Both components are independent of each other. I currently run the Carplay and have no issues with my oem backup camera.

Nostradumass....hahahahha i just noticed your username. So, i never got to test it out because i pulled my front camera system off because i did not want a clutter of crap with one accessory on top of more accessories. I prefer to do clean installs from start to finish and make it less complicated for viewers to follow. Imagine if i had the front camera wiring installed while installing the carplay for people that don't own the front camera...know what i mean? So i wasn't able to test your question out to prove it. But all i could say is the inputs and outputs of each system is independent of each other. Meaning, we are not y-splitting media inputs/outputs to share signals. We are only tapping into the source for power and ground for each system to function.

i really don't know enough about the 24 to do an honest comparison. The only thing you can do is just read up on the different reviews posted on line and go into the dealership to test drive one. I really love the current model up to 2019 but the later years do have nicer consoles. Don't know much about the reliability and characteristics of the newer engines.

That’s what your fuse box is for! Not on a serious note i haven’t heard or read anyone capping anything or having the car blow up due to a bad install. There’s no guess work involved meaning every plug fits into their respective home. You can’t mix match anything by mistake. If something has to be forced it means a pin is bent and should be straightened out.

I would think not because the BeatSonic usb connector gotta directly to the BeatSonic unit but then again this is also a wireless system so you really don’t need to hard wire it

i was never a fan of that country either until i did some research on it. Believe or not, they are way ahead of us in technology, architecture, and education. We only see the crap that our media puts out for us to see. I once thought Lebanon was a piece of crap war torn country until my friend came back from there for vacation and showed me pictures of billion dollar mega malls and their women are super hot and they don't wear burkas like what its shown on the news. I was blown away.
