I bought a 67 plate bmw x5 40d with 47k miles from a bmw dealer. It is a 1 owner car , 2 keys , and comes with HUD , HK sound, Adaptive lights , 369m wheels, heated steering wheel. It's in white with grey alloys. So far after 10k miles I have had the rear input shaft seal replaced, oxygen sensor, air suspension compressor and shocks replaced all under warranty 😊. So far so good and it is a lovely machine and has been reliable, non of the issues caused me any grief I just booked it in to bmw and got it all replaced under warranty. The car pulls like a train , returns 33 mpg , and after 10k the tyres are still on 6mm all round on conti sport 5 run flats. I was lucky as when I bought it bmw put 4 new tyres on, new front discs and pads and serviced it for me.

I personally love the X5 as a car from about 2010 and upwards. Im younger and insurance is a bitch so I drive crap boxes but my brother has had two 2010s, then moved on to a 2015 Range Rover Sport 4.4 SDV8. And he loved it at first, but he’s had nothing but trouble with electrical issues on the Range Rover so is moving back to an X5. They’ve proven to him to be reliable, comfortable and hard wearing multiple times in the past so he’s trying his luck on a 2018 X5

Great review mate. I don't know about anyone else but the advent of leasing has meant that proper car ownership has gone out of the window for a lot of people. Conversely this has meant that if you're sensible and don't care about having the latest model, you can pick up one of these for a good price and genuinely love to own one for years. Looking at getting one of these even though I can easily afford the new model, because it just simply isn't worth £20k more. Can't wait to get one.

Your best solution to get rid of all these little things is called bimmercode. Some other stuff is typical of any BMW and you just get used to it. When it comes to maintenance the best option (is what I have been doing anyway..) is to find a good specialist and simply purchase the parts from independent sources. The only annoying things about the X5 really are that it doesn't have a big V8 Diesel for towing, like the Touareg, Q7 or Cayenne and it only has rear air suspension as an extra, not on both axles. It also is way too small I think, when I sit in front, nobody has space in the second row.

Great review. I've been thinking of getting this model X5, for a few years. I have never driven one though. Currently driving a Peugeot 3008, which is a really good car, but it's slightly too small for my long legs. Perfect for my Wife. I think I just want a BMW. I love the style and build quality of them. I also really like the X6. In terms of the X5, I probably like this model more than the current one and that's perfect for my budget too. I can't see myself getting anything newer than 2018 in the X5. That is the age of my 3008, but it's a cheaper car type. You didn't indicate roughly what you paid for it, but I do absolutely love the white. I can see exactly why you love that colour. Our 3008 is the Ultimate Red and it works really well, but I think White is actually my favourite of all car colours. Whether I actually get to own one of these, will depend on just how much I can bend the iron will of my Wife. Fuel efficiency is another factor in our current era of astronimcal fuel costs. The 3008 is actually very effficient. Maybe I will just have to go to a dealer, have a test drive and maybe that will satisfy my urges :)
