Now that the sales of ALL diesel Volkswagen cars have been prohibited in the U.S., this car will be one of the few that consumers can buy.

love diesel engines. I drive an i30 (Elantra in the US) CRDI 1.6L 4 cylinders and it is awesome and consumes like 1L/20km. In Europe, the very majority of cars sold in the last few years are diesels and I rarely now see a car with a petrol engine sold...

I know the lag you speak of and its present in ALL cruze's. Its a TCM program that GM puts in to control the transmission for reliability and wear which I hate. Aftermarket tuners are fixing this issue and people are loving it. The cruze i had was terrible and would be down right dangerous sometimes when getting the car to respond quick enough throttle inputs. Good review by the way. You spoke clearly and knew the information well.

David Tuerk No its not turbo lag. It's been this way before the diesel Cruze was born. I had the 1.8 and I also had a rental 1.4 turbo. Nice cars but both suffered the same problem.

i can't be the only one who likes the way a diesel motor sounds. these reviews always complain that the motors are loud.

The title of this review should be, "Let's talk about anything but the car I'm driving". Total fail on this review.

This is a case where numbers have to be compared. The VW Jetta is notably less expensive. But it drinks more gas. This Chevy Cruze is more expensive, but gas goes further. It may be a good idea to calculate how much you spend on gas in a year and find out how many years it will be before you would break even on the Cruze and then start saving money. Maybe you will save, but it of course all depends on how long you keep your car before getting a new one.

The car is not 100% american, it`s only assembled here, the engine is coming from Germany, and is standard for Opel`s and all GM Europe vehicles ...

Pretty bad review. It's OK to make the occasional statement about another competitor during the review, but you're consistently talking about the Jetta it begins to feel like this isn't so much a car review than talking about fuel-efficient compacts in general.

The cruze that we have here in America is a joke. Why can't we get the European version with the 1.7 diesel engine. That gives you close to 800. Miles on a full tank. Chevy and Ford make a lot of great cars. And we can't buy them.

Yah, you're missing out.. Just got my Chevy Cruze 2.0 VCDi with 163hp.. Great car.. I can go approx. 1300km on a tank full..

Diesel fuel is .40 cents a gallon more than gas in my neck of the woods.
@mejenborg10 жыл бұрын
Seriously? Here it's cheeper.. Way cheeper.. 12DKK for a liter gas, and only 9DKK for a liter diesel.. Quick calculations 8.18 USD/Gal. gas, and 6.13 USD/Gal. diesel..
@KCN8er8 жыл бұрын
$1.82 per liter by 3.78 liters in one gallon is $6.88 per gallon of petrol and $1.38 by 3.78 liter in one gallon is $5.21 per gallon diesel. I live in Korea and it's about a dollar per liter after you exchange so $3.78 per gallon of diesel. Petrol costs a lot more. Maybe the Danish Kroner was stronger 2 years ago.
