I just picked up this 2014 CRF250L, I did the following Mods:
1) Yoshimura RS-4 Full Exhaust System (takes about 20 minutes to take off stock system and install new one, very simple, no modifications needed and it sound so damn good, it will give you chills.)
2) EJK (along with the Yoshi exhaust, i added the EJK, again, very easy, you just unplug the stock connector on the injector and plug the EJK in line, I have small hands, so I was able to squeeze my hand in there and plug it in, then just route the wire to the back and velcro it to where the "manual" goes, the EJK comes with velcro, the wires are long so you can hide them somewhere underneath the seat)
3) Airbox Mod (I drilled three 1 inch holes on the airbox lid and 2 other holes on the top part of the airbox, right next to where the snorkel is, which you also can remove, I bought these UNI Air Box Filter Air Vents)
4) 13T counter balance sprocket (I didn't feel the difference at first, but then I tuned the EJK to 2.5 Green, 2.5 Yellow(orange) and 3 Red and now the bike really picks up)
5) Seat Concepts "comfort seat" low profile (the seat's material is very grippy, really holds you in place, at first I didn't think it was that much more different than the stock seat, but after a long ride my ass didn't hurt like it did on the stock seat) plus the black really murders out the bike
6) Zeta XC Handguards with Flashers (I'm using the stock handle bar 7/8"), I unbolted the stock front turn signals and then just cut the wires right at the stem of the signals, somewhat simple, get some extra zip ties to route the new flashers wire (on the stock turn signals there are 3 wires, but the Zeta XC Flashers have 2, here's a link to the wiring: www.honda-crf25...
7) CRF250L DRC Edge2 Tail Light Kit (tail light eliminator, looks awesome, have about 4 different settings for the blinkers style, just follow the instructions on the wiring, I did kind of a crappy job on the first try, it works good, but I'm gonna go back and redo the job to make it look cleaner, all these wires go under the seat.
8) Frame access plugs (you can cover those 4 ugly frame access holes with these "1/8" Inch Chrome Universal Multi Purpose Hole Plug", they sell them on ebay. You need 3 of the 1 1/8 inch and one of 1 1/4" for the one behind the frame guard. the just slip right in. looks great (See video)
Overall, I'm pretty happy with all the upgrades, I would play around with the EJK to find the setting you like, the "recommended" settings are 3 green, 3 yellow, 6 red (thats high), 5, 4 and 4.5 according to www.electronicj...
You can buy parts for the CRF250L at these websites:
www.soloracer.com
www.crfsonly.com
Ebay has great prices on exhaust systems
Let me know if you want to see anything else on the bike

Thanks for all the time you spent researching and testing. You are an asset to KZbin. This video is time and money saving. I bought this bike to replace my 1994 DR350. Hoping to get a more dirt worthy version of the CRF250L with the Yoshi, sprockets, and an EJK. I needed electric start, 2 up foot pegs, and a rack that the 250L had. Thanks again bro!

how much you pay for the pipe ? I have the 2016 crf Honda 250-its not carburetor -its fuel injection. but I am sure the pipe can make a difference.

fast forward to 2017- 18 CRF 250L and this setup is the way to go, EJK fuel controller, K&N air filter, Yoshi full exhaust system .... more than anything the EJK will force the bikes ECU to give better low end and mid range power/torque and this is how the bike should have left the factory .... for the Yoshi exhaust system 17-18 has the O2 sensor in the mid pipe and yes Yoshi has a bung for the O2 sensor so it takes just a bit longer to install - thanks Honda lol

Nice mods and vid. Why did you go with Yoshimura instead of FMF for your exhaust system?

Nice bike. Have you compared the sound of your Yoshi setup with a bike that has an FMF (either the Q4 or PC)? Doesn't look like you have a header on there so it must be louder than both FMF's?

How have you found the Seat Concepts seat so far? I'll be purchasing this seat soon and I'm trying to decide between the low version you have and the regular version. Have you found the padding to be adequate in the low?

So the Yoshimura is that much wider than the stock muffler that the heat shield doesn't fit? I have the '14 model as well and was going to pick up the same muffler but just the slip on.

I really love the upgrades on your bike and the bike looks totally awesome. I will get this bike when I return to the USA. In Africa now and I wish I had it here. I have not heard much of the RS4 exhaust setup, only the FMF. I would like to have better performance on the motorway as I will not be doing much trail riding. Do you think the RS4 give better performance on the high end of the rev range?

do you know wots done on the 600 miles service ? is it just oil. filter and just a general check over . do you know if the 600 mile service has to have the valves checked as well to keep the 2 years warranty ? only my honda dealer is 100 miles away and i am thinking of letting my local yamaha dealer do the 600 mile service as its only 2 miles down the road.

Greate mod, did you check top speed and 0-60 before and after upgrade? I'm waiting for mine and a wonder is it really necessary to upgrade just for normal road use. ;)

lbarocha311 well, I own bike since 3 weeks and I feel that I don't need to mod engine and exhaust, the thing that really is pissing me off is TIRES they ara absolutely useless on sand or mud, so first thing I do I will change tires from old DR350 (same size) ;). Maybe next year I will thing about engine mod ;0

hi i have now done 550 miles on my new crf 250 l and it is brilliant i love it but i have a coolant leak from wot some other crf owners call the anti freeze weep hole ! its on the right hand side of the engine just under the water pump it only leaks a couple of drops onto the frame in the first 8 or 9 miles then i wipe it clean then it does not leak anymore for the rest of my ride . did you have this problem with your crf ? or have you heard of this problem ? as far as i am concerned a new bike should"nt leak any fluids , if it carries on i will have to make a claim on the warranty but some owners have put on the internet that its normal and should stop weeping at about 1000 miles . what is your thoughts on this ?

I just bought my crf 250L last summer. All ive heard for complaints is that the bike is underpowered. So I was just wondering how much performance you got from your parts and what you recommend to change.

90mph stock, I've seen videos of people only being able to bring it up to 85ish mph max. I was looking for any mods to increase the top speed so it would more than just barely keep up with traffic on the highway. I am looking to getting this bike soon.

Interesting...so many responses to a non-mechanic's video. The EJK and "Joshamura" are quality, for sure, but you are paying money for SOUND, not power! We do engine research for some big race teams...tested this setup on a CRF250L and found a 1.2 hp gain...after tuning and cam timing. (90% from the EJK) All for nearly a grand US? Joke!! I have seen others talk about air box mods to gain "massive low end power". Another joke, it appears. We dyno tested the oft used intake restriction modification myth, (too restrictive)...low end power was equal, mid range was lower and top end was not close. (We saw 17.2 at 8000) Choose to believe urban legends and spend your money...we build bikes that are reliable and work! The big bang for your CRF? Get rid of the super excessive weight. Not cheap or easy, but well worth it.

I have a crf250l, what did you do to reduce weight on your bike?
@artthurman3446
@artthurman3446 5 жыл бұрын
Many things, Kusheen. The first was the pipe like many suggest. Minor hp gain, but ~12 pounds shed. More if you go titanium. Then we build our own sub-frame, from carbon fiber tubing. Another ~14 pounds gone. Now working more. We found a headlight cowl/fender combo, and rear fender. Working on a fuel tank/air-box set and other bits. (Not traditional, tank in sub-frame, air-box where tank was, like some Euro race bikes) All Carbon fiber. Some parts made by other peeps, some on our own. We are not done yet, but down to 296 pounds. (We will do engine mounts, chain guides, counter-shaft covers) Our goal is 275 or less. Looking at everything. Even the chain is going to end up as a 315 conversion. The wheels/hubs are next. Note that we are only swapping parts so far. Nothing that adds weight. Ohhhh, my friend just made a kickstand from left over carbon tubing too! Minus another few pounds.

@@kusheen... I have a decent list of current and future weight shedding items, if you would like to see that. (Plus some crazy, fun engine mods) We are developing a potential parts list for manufacture or resale as a CRF-L specific supplier. Not going to be soon, but the parts need testing, over time. How can I safely get you my PM address? We will test market our ideas before spending big money. (That we do not have)
