More than enough, depending on how old you are. If you just did your license it should be great for the first years. If you have driven in the past and you starting again the more powerful Monster 821 (check my review about it) could be a better option. cheers

I have one of these, I have had a lot of bikes but I love this Ducati, not sure why you would say a beginner bike for a 700cc V-twin
@AutoReviewCom
@AutoReviewCom 10 жыл бұрын
It depends on which country you are from. If you live in Asia a 250ccm bike might be already a big biker, in Germany a 500 or 700ccm bike is a entry level bike to start with. In addition the Monster is even as per the sales guy at Ducati the entry level bike for people who started riding or for those who didn't ride since years and want to start again. Nothing negative really in my comment, it's just easy to drive and good for beginners. Not too much or to little power, easy handling and good riding position.

Auto Review I am from the UK and I have had lots of sports bikes over the last ten years, i recently bought the Ducati really for its looks, it is a very nice bike to ride or 'easy to ride' as people say, but why should a bike be hard to ride, I never quite understand why anybody would want a bike that is hard to ride, is it just for bragging rights in the pub, most people don't ride their bikes to their full potential anyway, they just want to sound like billy big bollocks. With the 696 you can really ride it properly, it pulls away like its in charge, you have to be very light with the control or you will get out of shape very quickly, if you are going from an inline four to the L-twin, it will feel faster that it actually is, you know how on a in line four you wind the engine up with the building speed, with this you open the throttle from the get go and the bike just booms forward, then the revs catch up. The handling is very good, with the torque curve kicking in so low down, if you do spin out the back wheel in a corner you don't panic you just bring it back in line, and the brakes are in a different league to any bike i have owned. It is Ducati's starter bike, but I started on GSXR600, so I guess it depends on the rider

spideyzx6r I fully agree with you. Most people buy big bikes to show off at the cafe, cause 99% of them cannot handle the power without today's tech. assistance systems *traction control, wheelie control, etc.). I liked the bike a lot when I test-drove it and I think it a greta bike for all age groups and gender neutral. From Ducati in Dubai the average Monster 696 buyers are beginners or after years of non driving returners and ladies. I wouldn't mind owning this one and riding it. But what I was told by Ducati in Dubai as well is that most who buy the 696 as their first bike usually come back next season to upgrade for a more powerful bike. cheers

Auto Review True, I have been used to bikes with more power and i would like a bit more power with this one but Ducati have a habit of adding more power and spoiling the styling, the 696 still looks the best, and still better looking than the new 821, I think the air cooled engine looks better. Great chatting with you :)

spideyzx6r I am still due to test drive the new 821, it has not been yet registered with Ducati in Dubai, but I am sure the engine of the Hyperstrada with 100hp in the Monster size will be a fun bike to ride. cheers

Hi, I got my licence in 2012 but I have no riding experience. Will the Ducati 696 be a good starter bike for me? I have seen really negative reviews about the bike and I'm not sure how to decide. Im 35 and the purpose of me purchasing one is solely due to passion. Hence style and class are pretty important considerations for me.

It really depends on how much time you will spend on driving a bike. If it just occasionally I don't see an issue here with the 696, if you can still get one as they are being discontinued in favor of the new 821 Monster (see my other review). However, if you are planning on riding a lot and you will get used to it I might see the problem that the bikes power will be insufficient after 1-2 years of owning the bike. I would recommend to go for the new 821 Monster as it allows you to limit the power to 75hp for the beginning and once you are comfortable you just switch to the other 2 riding modes that give you 110hp. This way you will have a bike that can grow with your skills and it will last you longer. Hope that helps.

Good Day Sir. Thank you for the great video. Unfortunately I'm having difficulty keeping track of your reviews for the beginner bike category. Honest question, can you recommend this bike for a beginner like me? Thank you.
@AutoReviewCom

Hello Rey, It is a great bike for beginners and beyond that. Not everyone wants to ride a bike that is so powerful that you have to be afraid of riding it. This one is easy to handle, affordable and great looking. I can recommend it, though make sure you get one with ABS in case you consider buying used.

Wonderful Review! I'm aged 17, and a beginner. I'm planning to get a new bike. Which bike is better? KTM Duke 390 vs Ducati 696? And how much does the Ducati cost in Dubai? Do you suggest any other bikes other than a duke or a ducati for a beginner? Thanks :)
@AutoReviewCom
@AutoReviewCom 9 жыл бұрын
Thank you, The Ducati in this video costs AED 43.900 (but they have a discount at the moment for them as they are being replaced by the new Monster 821! Check my review of the Monster 821, I have mentioned the discounted price for the 696 in it. The KTM 390 Duke and the Ducati 696 are two totally different bikes and both are great for beginners. It all depends on how much money you want to spend. I could recommend BMW as well, similar prices as Ducati with good warranty. The other manufacturers won't let you test drive the bikes and warranty and service are worse than BMW, KTM & Ducati here in the UAE! Hope that helps.
@SpearWarrior671
@SpearWarrior671 9 жыл бұрын
Wow, 43.90 AED? THAT'S INCREDIBLE. That's like 13 US dollars...in america a brand new Ducati 696 will cost $9,200 on average ($7,000-$8,000 If used depending on mileage and cosmetics), which means that in AED you would have to spend an equivalent of 33,000 AED to buy a new ducati 696....

Are these bikes reliable as daily commuters and is servicing them still expensive? (I live in on a small island so it will be mostly very short trips, around 180km per week)
@AutoReviewCom
@AutoReviewCom 10 жыл бұрын
Well it really depends on if you will service it regularly and how good the technicians are, but since Ducati belongs to Audi they good much better compared to before (same as Lamborghini). Though, regardless if bike or car, I would try to avoid to drive short trips all the time as the engine needs to get on temperature to perform the best and if you drive an engine hard before it reached its ideal running temperature the wear & tear increases over time.

Not at all, you will be fine and feel very comfortable on the Monster. I believe as well that they have original Ducati parts that allow you to increase/decrease the height of the bench. Good luck.
