As a german the world cup was sick. I grew up with germany only getting third or second in big competitions. 2002, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and now 2014. Just these feelings when Miro scored his goals, when it said 5-0 in the thirtieth minute against brazil, these emotions when the final whistle blew in the final, it was amazing.

I am a United fan but i get were your coming from, some of our fans are also deluded and talk about how that player is so sick one day and the next day, there on his case about how he performed. I get it from the same fans and probably even worse because they state players like Anderson is still a good player to come off the bench.....fuck off. I knew about Herrera, Blind and Rojo since 2011 but never hyped them up to be fantastic players. i think they are all good players which can show there worth and can blossom into fantastic players with the right attitude and influence. Blind is someone who i admire a lot because he has both and is showing that he can be a major long term player for us. Rojo is shaky when comes to defending but he will improve and that's a fact. Herrera's price tag is what makes our fans so hyped up about him and always defend him, i love his play but he can be weak and missing in some games. on the other hand, his passing, touch, dribbling, decision making and goal tally have been really good so i can say he is "good player".

Brentford's 2014 was incredible, setting a new club record with 11 straight wins, got promoted to the FL Championship for the first time in over 20 years and then going on to be the surprise package in the league finishing the league in the play-off positions and going the whole month of November winning every game, oh and beating the hated Fulham after being one goal down and coming back to win it in the 94th minute, quite an amazing year

My favourite moment was seeing Luton Town winning promotion back into the Football League, going on a 27-game unbeaten run. We played some fantastic football, and now our best striker (Andre Gray) is scoring plenty of goals for Brentford while we are in another promotion campaign.

I'm a German national team supporter and at the final I went to Alpine Village in Los Angeles . There were over 200 people at the bar 99% German fans and 1% Argentina fans . We sang in German and supported our team . Best soccer game I have ever seen !!!

Diego Simeone with his side were the phenomenon of 2014. Beating Barcelona in the final game in La Liga in CampNou and winning the title, then went to the Champions League final and they had been just about to win it before Ramos destroyed everything with last minute header. Unhappy ending for everyone supported and sympathised with Atletico as the under-estimated and weaker side with ordinary ability and unknown player comparing to Barca and Real but great discipline and spirit. In 2014, Simeone wrote a very great story to tell. Money is not everything.

There's been a ton of big footballing moments when it comes to the US. First, there was John Brooks' dream goal to help the US finally beat Ghana in the WC, Ian Darke had said that Brooks couldn't have even dreamed that this would happen, but Brooks after the game admitted that he had. Then there was Jermaine Jones' amazing strike against Portugal. Not to mention the US advancing out of the Group of Death alongside eventual winners Germany. And then there was the jawdropping, meme inducing, performance by Tim Howard against Belgium. But the big one for me when I'm thinking about football and the USA in 2014, it has to be the farewell to Landon Donovan. Certainly an American Hero in this sport and arguably the main reason a lot of Americans have become fans of this game in the first place. He even had the rare opportunity to go out a champion when he and the LA Galaxy won the MLS cup in his final game.

Best moment of 2014. The 5-3 come back from Leicester against Manchester United, I was at the game and the way we came back and ripped them apart for the last twenty minutes was amazing. Shame about the rest of the season though. :(

In WC, no teams deserve a massive respect more than Costa Rica, Chile, Columbia, Algeria, Mexico. Algeria was the only team that could keep up with the machine style of Germany. Costa Rica was the dark horse of the tournament. Mexican people happiness was stolen by the ref. Columbia and Chile, both they could have beaten Brazil if they had some luck. By the end of the day, WC went to the more deserved side Die Mannschaft

Jason Amoah I know that. Ghana did well against Germany. We were all proud of them as I'm always biased to the African sides, even though, I'm not African. It's still a different story when you played against Germans in the qualification than knock-out stages. We all know Germans are like machines starting cold and then getting heated and efficiently functioning throughout. I did not mention any team that did well in the qualification but didn't promoted to knock-out stages.

Its a hot day in brazil, the game is netherlands vs Australia, in the 20th minute robben paces past three players to score a goal, the score 1-0. The kick off starts again for Australia a few short passes are made until one long ball is chipped cross field to the left side, tim cahil sprinting to reach the ball. The ball flys into the box with a bang timmy cahil smashes the ball on the volley on the left foot, thuds against the crossbar and finds the back of the net. At this shinning moment Australia is part of world football history, all australian footballers feeling connected, a sudden pride to be an Australian surges through your body. At the moment when cahill score me and mates were watching the football stream during class, we all jumped up and cheered while our teacher gave us a look. This wasn't the best goal or ever one of the best goals of 2014 but it was the most inspiring goal for all Australians in 2014. Like if you're Australian

Gerrard didn't cost us the league, we wouldn't have been in a title race without him. People have short memories, he was excellent for us last season. 13 goals and 13 assists. You can't put losing a league title down to one moment, maybe you can in a cup but not a league. If you were to put it down to one moment then you could put it down to the linesman ruling out Sterling's goal at the Etihad for offside when he was a mile on, or Mignolet's poor keeping in that same game, could put it down to Eto'o not being sent off at Stamford Bridge in the fourth minute when he should have been, and then went on to score the winner. Could put it down to Kolo's horror back pass at West Brom or Allen's horror miss at Goodison which would have put us 3-1 up. You can't blame it on one individual. The reason we didn't win the league was because defensively as a team, we weren't good enough. Simple as that.

Just the world cup for the USA in general. No one gave USA a chance to get out of the group of death but they did and almost beat Belgium behind the screams and roars of the 2nd largest fan base of a country at the world cup
