2014 Honda Accord EX-L V6 | Likes & Dislikes After 10k Miles

She’s back! After a month with my (now former) 2014 Civic Si, I realized that I truly wanted my Accord back. While I miss the fun-driving nature of the Si, I’m happy to have the Accord back. With that being said, I’m today’s video, we’ll be going through some likes and dislikes that I’ve thought up after owning the car for 7 months and 10k miles (with some nice scenery in the background).

Purchased my 2013 Accord EX-L V6 new 10 years ago. After 126K miles, I like just about everything about the car!!! Dislikes? They don't make them like this anymore. 😒

Agreed-coming up with dislikes was pretty difficult. I’d say this is the last of the “classic” Accords.

Never get rid of this car, my friend. Take a good care of your Honda and it will take care of you. I just hit 70K on my 2013 EXL i4 Accord with no issues so far since I bought it at the end of 2021. I got it over at Carmax with only 40K on it!!

These cars become a different beast with just a ktuner v2, disable vcm (can cause serious engine issues), also allows you to improve the shifts dramatically faster, and increase power too if you want. Honestly turns this car from a slow shifting family car into a real drivers car.

For sure! Fortunately, I’ve already down the VCM delete, and it has made a world of difference. Now that I have a 6 speed Accord as a second car, I’m going to keep this one stock and keep it as a daily driver until it can’t drive anymore.

I would seriously keep this car if I were you! It's as close to perfect as you can get. And I agree with your comment about it being reminiscent of the 6th gen. I also had a 6th gen and drove that car from 2005 until 2017. I bought my 9th gen then and kept the 6th gen as a spare car. When my teenage daughter got her license, she inherited the 6th gen and drove it until it just became too problematic. At 196k mi, it had developed a big oil leak and needed several expensive repairs (new catalytic converter, new rack and pinion - after I replaced the power steering pump- new alternator, new upper and lower control arms). Repairs were just too costly at this point and it seemed to go into the shop as soon as it'd come out, so we made the difficult decision to sell it and bought another 9th gen Accord. The old car went to a good home, the guy who bought it knows how to work on cars and does the repairs at a fraction of what we would have paid. Nice to see it occasionally zipping around town. I do miss that car, but love that the 9th gens carry on that classic look that made me fall in love with the Accord.

I co-sign every single part of your comment, and your story with the 6th Gen is very similar to mine! I loved my 1998 to pieces, but it became a money-pit; however, the 9th Gen is a perfect replacement. I did get rid of it for about a month, but I missed it too much and ultimately was able to get it back before the dealership sold it to someone else. :)

I got a K24 CVT w/ a magnaflow street series exhaust and KN typhoon intake, it's all it needs to bring it to life from stock form imo. If you want an accord but are stuck on the v6, look into doing some cheap upgrades and possible k tune a 2.4 instead, it's one of the most well liked and reliable motors of the modern era. Not to mention, you get the (huge) added bonus of not having to deal with timing belts

The biggest complaint is the lag on the Bluetooth....when watching youtube, the words aren't synced to their mouth...wonder if aftermarket radio will fix this

When you said you dislike the transmission I thought you were gonna say how it’s not the smoothest shifting transmission. Everyone I know with the 9th gen accord 6AT complains about it

For the most part, mine is pretty smooth. I’ll notice a little jerk every now and then. It’s definitely not the best transmission though.

The Accord would most likely beat the Si in a race, but the Si felt more eager/exciting to get up to speed. The Accord feels like you’re punishing it when you go hard on it, while the Civic rewards you for getting on it.

@@vonstrong92 For sure. The automatic doesn’t do it any favors either. It shifts just like you’d expect a family sedan to, smooth, but pretty slow, which makes even 278 HP feel sluggish.
