I wanted to thank you for this video. It was most helpful and while there were a couple of steps edited for brevity, you cannot go wrong following what this technician is showing. Two things: SPECIAL thanks for showing how to remove the cables from the battery side. All available shop manuals ask you to remove the cables from the rack once you have lowered it slightly. YEAH GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. Once I received the replacement rack and saw how tight that space was, this technician’s method is a piece of cake, comparatively. Second, do yourself a favor and got those rack pins and the necessary long hex key to tighten them in as shown by the technician. It makes the reinstall very easy. Thank you. When I am in Florida next I will buy you guys a drink.

@@GremcoGarage just this one….as you probably know: racks for Tiguan 2011-2017 are on back order, three month lead time….so I installed a used one. So far so good by the grace of God..

Great video! How do you know when the motor is out? I have a 2012 Tiguan. What are the steps to troubleshoot it. Before knowing it's the whole rack. Can you please help. Would appreciate it alot!

Check the fuse S.A. Panel and check the harness for damage and shorts . Also you can scan it

clicking on right and left lock sound like rack or could the subframe be misaligned after clutch was done a year or so ago? usual suspect been taken care of, like strut mounts and bearings, track rod ends, drop links. lower arms look good.

Poor lighting and which doesn’t allow viewer to see what’s being performed, VW tech has no safety glasses while working under the vehicle. Narrative by technician would of been better, instead of listening to camera guy keep asking that size every tool used.
