I'm able to get 55 mpg on highway and I have to say a few things. The wind drag noise from low engine noise the driver has to put up with and the frequent need to correct steering is overstated. Typical Corollas have the same issue with their suspension because there is NO cushion. You feel EVERYTHING. It's what you pay for economy.

my 2012 Prius C is 50000 miles now(53MPG). I saved about $3000 gas already compare to my 2010 Civic 30 combine MPG. live in CA. my A/C is turned ON all the time. the only maintenance I've done is oil change every 10000 miles. and one air filter. that is all. I don't care other stuff. I will save $6000 on gas when my Prius C is 100000 mile. will buy a plug-in for my next car. will get more than 90 MPG for the same commuting.

Considering the fuel economy you would probably get strange looks from asking for something like $8.00 on a refuel because of the economy of the car to top it off instead of pulling out a $20. It adds up.

Um, yes it can. Do you have a 2012 civic hybrid? I do. And I monitor the energy propulsion screen like a little baby and I can slip into a fuel-less state where the car is only running on EV. Its possible at any speed but can only sustain acceleration up to 43 MPH... after that, the gas engine has to cut in to keep the car at speed. I think we've been over this before...
@MrRyuzaki9112 жыл бұрын
people! 53 MPG CITY!!! It's CITY. Now, I know your diesel gets high MPG rating, but it's only achievable if you're always driving in highway.. About human and animal health concerns, diesel have more NOx and other dirty emission, even if it's a clean diesel and equipped with filters. Those filters usually works during high speeds.
@willillybab642510 жыл бұрын
yes, exactly: the Honda's from way back in the 90's used to easily get the same mpg as this car, and they didn't need any battery pack. ( Civic VX = 50 mpg ). Unfortunately, Honda doesn't build VX Civics anymore, and those old cars only came with manual transmission, and I cannot shift without grinding them to death.

Yes, the Civic Hybrid gives you more room, but if you are truly able to get this kind of mileage out of it, you'd manage ridiculous mpg in a Prius C. Check out fuelly.com, if you want to compare the Civic Hybrid to the Prius C in terms of mpg. You give up a little space for better average mpg. Also check out mpgomatic's KZbin channel for a nice example of the C's mpg capabilities...and yes, skip through it, because the video is a bit long...

This is the most practical car. High mileage, low maintenance, and less than $20k in some cases. I don't agree with the reviewer's shortcomings unless your over 6 feet tall or do a lot of highway driving over 70, in which case you probably wouldn't get this car anyway. There's nothing wrong with the interior unless what you really want is a Mercedes.
@MasterYoshidino7 жыл бұрын
Yes. It is cramped for tall people but for average persons that do not care to impress with a fancy sports car and prefer practical vehicles it can't be beat. Edit: You can EASILY pass 70 on level road and still get +50 mpg with this car. It comes down to knowing the incline and keeping an eye on the ECO meter.

well there are quite a few cars in the UK that can do 60+ mpg dont forget that petrol prices here are about 10 dollars a gallon so demand throughout the UK and europe is for very fuel efficent engines. also the European union has stricter rules on emmissions etc so car manufacturers have to conform to higher standards than in the US. that said the US gallon is a bit smaller i think than a british gallon or vice versa - not sure.

Go to the Toyota Canada web site (www.Toyota.ca) and try to buy a Blue Yaris similar in color to the Prius C? You will find that the 'Blue Streak Metallic Prius C cost $20,440, while the Yaris is not available with the same nice blue until you upscale to the much more expensive Yaris 5-door SE model. And when you throw in an automatic transmission the cost of the Yaris comes out to $20,255. So really, both of those cars come out at almost EXACTLY the same amount (that’s if you absolutely MUST have that blue color for your car.) So please don’t say that the Prius C is expensive because when ordering that blue color, it’s the same price as the blue Yaris.

I can tell you it does... I own one hehehehe. Combined driving, u can get 21-22km/L easily, that is 51MPG combined. And in the city, you'll see 25 or even 30+ depending on how slow the traffic is.. that is 60-70MPH city. The 53MPG and combined 46MPG is claim is actually lower than what the car actually does. And I get over 600km for 30L and the car has 35L fuel tank and i drive it like i drive my old car.. The prius sips fuel much lesser than my old 1.1L car...
