Hey all, I dont wanna bad mouth anyone. But if you shop around there is a place that sells these for much less.If you like to ride fast on or off road, do not buy one. If you would rather drive a Corvette than a Mack, do not buy one.Folks who want to ride along loving the sound, sights on the way to someplace with your dog, friend, wife, with camping, hunting or fishing gear on or off road,,,,,,might look into one.

A couple of buds who have gear ups almost talked me into buying one a couple of years ago, but between them they've had 3 or 4 mid ride breakdowns and couple of major warranty repairs so I had to decline. They love the hell out of them though.

yeah, these bikes do have a bit of character... but, they're relatively easy to fix if you don't mind doing a bit of wrenching. remember: these motorcycles were designed to be maintained by under-educated soviet conscripts. i want one badly... but i don't have any money, and there isn't a ural dealer in my state. :(
@daviddionne82969 жыл бұрын
+rockergod789 u r a conscript!
@marzsit98336 жыл бұрын
most of the breakdowns are due to dumb 'muricans who don't read or follow the instructions.... these bikes are very old-school, you can't speed-shift or float-shift anything on these things, and you have to be stopped before engaging or disengaging the sidecar drive. it's not a fast bike. it was never intended to be a fast bike. it was intended to operate under wartime conditions so by it's very nature it was intended to be very reliable. and don't dump or drop the clutch...

The new Urals are not so charismatic as the old ones that were released in the 80s but were in conservation, for example, I have a police version of the Ural that accelerates to 180 km / h and has more horsepower as well as a reinforced rear wheel and a mechanical siren driven by a flywheel

It's worth mentioning that riding a sidecar bike with no rider in the sidecar totally sucks.

A custom Harley with a sidecar and reverse gear could set you back around 35K. But they don't build them anymore, they went Trike.

Tray Muse Well, I've seen BMWs and Harleys, but those are at a completely different level in terms of quality and engineering that goes into them. Urals steel use BMW design from 1940's which we have "borrowed" from the Germans after world war two. I'm just saying that they are well overpiced IMHO.

so true. both bikes are expensive because both bikes are manufactured the same way, with lots of humans in the production stream. asian manufacturing uses more robots and fewer humans.
I had one...it was the worst motorcyckle i ever owned.

Why would anyone, other than a Ural enthusiast, buy this over an ATV?
@plaid1310 жыл бұрын
because its street legal.
@rob11s10 жыл бұрын
plaid13 Aren't ATVs street legal in the US? Does that apply to all of them? What about those utility quads with steering wheels and frames?
@TerribleTimes10 жыл бұрын
Robertas Bukantis ATVs are not street legal in North America.... ;(
@plaid1310 жыл бұрын
yeah none of them are street legal. We have way too many laws about that kind of thing. For them to be street legal they would have to pass all the safety testing that cars do. that means crash testing and airbags and abs and they would have to be obd2 compliant and have a safety windshield and a catalitic converter and strict emissions restrictions and certified seat belts and bumpers that pass testing and a long list of other crap that atvs dont have.
@youtubuzr10 жыл бұрын
Because it is about 300X more cool than an ATV.

Great... I don't live in the freakin' snow. Will it be safe on our 65mph highways.....? How could you "test" a Ural and not mention whether or not it can attain highway speeds...?Sorry, Once again Motorcycle.com has failed another "test ride"... Perhaps they need a new test rider- let me know, I'm available...
@secularnevrosis8 жыл бұрын
+hankgs It can hold 65mph on highways if there isn't to much of wind blowing in the "wrong" direction...else you'll have to settle for 60mph..at least my carb ural can maintain that speed. I think the injector model will do better.
@kuhndj676 жыл бұрын
The Ural isn't for someone interested in riding 65 on slab.
