My Avalon 2017, key has poor range. You think my receiver wires are loose? Or you think I need to change the receiver.

Did this fix the problem with the door remote not working?
@a5ocm13f10 ай бұрын
So for me it didn't in this case. I plugged the old receiver back in and tried to reprogram the key one last time before giving up and it magically worked. Makes me think maybe there was a loose plug or something and plugging it back in must have fixed it once I reprogrammed the key. You can try that before buying another receiver, maybe you are having the same issue too.

@@a5ocm13f thanks for the reply. My TPMS is fine but the receiver for the door locks seems to have stopped working. Did you reprogram the key using the weird method of open and close door twice and turn on ignition etc etc?

@@AlanP_916Hey yes I did. Is it not working for you? I have had to do it a few times because you have to do it in the specific way and quick enough for it to work. Sometimes I was too slow and it would not register so took me a few times. If TPMS is fine then I don't think the receiver is your issue, assuming you've looked up your vehicle and confirms the TPMS & door locks are controlled by the same module. I found this info out by looking on Toyota parts replacement to see what controls the door locks and found for the 2015 Camry, both TPMS and door locks were in the same receiver. May or may not be same for your vehicle depending on model.

@@a5ocm13f thanks for the reply. Yeah I got the same car but one year older(same chassis and even receiver part number i think), and the same unit, but the key fobs stopped working suddenly, and changed the battery and checked the fuse already etc etc. narrowed it down to this or a shorted ECU for the door control or something. Ive tried the programming method probably a hundred times now lol, with all kinds of patterns found on the web and youtube. My car doesnt give me the lock unlock after the pattern so Im thinking the receiver unit is just dead for programming and receiving keyfob signals but the tpms function in the unit is fine. Thanks again for the reply. Btw door lock unlocks fine manually and with the buttons on the door, but cant even get it when i try to program the fobs

@@AlanP_916 If you check on ebay, you can get used or deadstock receivers for a decent price. That's where I got mine and I was able to return it no issues, but will depend on the seller return policy you get it from. I followed the video from All Cars Brotherhood for their programming method and that's the one that ultimately worked for me in the end. I also did it a lot of times myself frustratingly...but it eventually worked after what I can only assume is due to unplugging and replugging the receiver in. The door locks on the car also worked fine similar to your description, it was just the remote buttons that were no good. I would give unplugging/replugging a go first then if doesn't work, try ordering a receiver off ebay. Then if that doesn't work...last resort is the dealer, but at least you would have tried. I had called many mechanics about fixing this or even just ordering me the part and all turned down the work and referred to dealer due to complexity. But as you can see, it actually isn't that hard to at least try.

do we need to program the ECU after changing tpms receiver or it is not needed
@a5ocm13f Жыл бұрын
Sort of. You will need the master key (black plastic housing on the OEM key) and perform a specific set of instructions to sync the new receiver and link to the key. You can find it on KZbin for how to link the OEM key to the new receiver.

Similar process, it's held in by the clips you see in the video. I would open the door and work your way under the weather stripping to get under the A pillar and go from there.
