2015 Atlantic hurricane season is interesting for having it's earliest storm to make landfall since beryl 2012, 2nd TS to retired the name (erika), Danny a major hurricane thought to be major threat before erika was just a measly tropical storm hitting (although this might contribute the islands that later affect by erika), Joaquin (i will imagine Joaquin was indeed a cat 5 💀) but also a deadly storm that wasn't even deadly in land due to the fact that a ship was sink during it's RI phase causing lost of all crew members so interesting that Joaquin is actually underdeserved to be retired even tho bahamas got affected badly by Joaquin as it manages to impact winds of 155mph (although overshadowed by next year then 2017) for unusual long period of time which is kinda scary similar to 2019 Dorian

Nah ah. Joaquin 100% deserved to be retired. That storm sank the El Faro taking the entire crew down with the ship. The knucklehead captain took the ship to within 10 miles of the hurricanes eye when Joaquin was at full intensity...

Really like this animation. It’s refreshing to hear never used music, makes it more of a season of its own. Animation was smooth and interesting to watch. Nothing really negative to say, just an overall good animation on the 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Good Job to who made it!

The 2015 ATL season is the last season to be below average (at least as of now). Despite this, it is notorious for starting the ATL terror (at least one retired name per season up until 2023), with Erika and Joaquin. Erika, despite being a weak TS, caused catastrophic damage in Dominica, and was the worst disaster there at the time, until Maria. Joaquin was the polar opposite, being the strongest hurricane of the season and caused severe damage in the Bahamas. It also sunk a ship during its RI phase, killing nearly 3 dozen crew members on board.

It should be worth mentioning that the ship sunk (SS El Faro) during Joaquin's RI phase could've been prevented, but even then, it's likely that the Bahamas would've retired it anyway.

@@ErikCB912 Remember that the $200 million is in $US. The Bahamas uses their own national currency which would not be the same value. I believe it would be more in their currency.

I can attest though that if the SS El Faro didn't sink, the retirement wouldn't have been inevitable. As that ship belongs to the USA, the NTSB (or National Transportation Safety Board) had released their final report on that sinking 2 years after it sunk.

Storms don't need to reach hurricane strength to cause a lot of damage, we learned this from Tropical Storm Erika. Erika and Joaquin were later retired following this season. They were replaced with Elsa and Julian for the 2021 season.
