Something odd with your numbers. 0-60 for that car is 5.6-5.8 seconds, as measured by various reviewers. You will sometimes see conservatives estimates of 6.0-6.3 seconds, but 7.1 seconds is not a correct 0-60 for this car. Sounds like there was an issue with that specific car. I loved my 2014 A4's acceleration. My 2018 is faster on paper, but you really have to stomp on the gas to see the advantage. In practical driving, the 2014 feels quicker and smoother. I much preferred the b8.5 drivetrain to the B9.

Personally, I drove the 2013 Audi A4 2.0T, and that thing was very powerful. We had 3 passengers in the car (one was 230 lbs), and that thing hauled!

Also, the seat is inset because it wants to save you from death and head injury in a side impact collision. I do feel your pain on the gear hunt - this is all EPA driven. Cars are trying to 'lug' to get better mpg.

One problem with the inboard seats in mostly all VW and Audi cars is that it's difficult to turn your head and look behind when backing up. Being so center to the car puts a lot of strain on the neck. The back up camera and acoustic sensors help.

the cars 0-60 time of 6.2 seconds is for the 6 speed manual Im pretty sure, as most automatic alternatives are slower,compared to their manual counterparts
@DieselDrives9 жыл бұрын
ThePravZA In the 2015 A4 brochure for USA, the tiptronic is rated for 6.2 seconds 0-60. The manual is 6.4 seconds. Page 35: www.audiusa.com/content/dam/audiusa/Documents/2015-Audi-A4-brochure.pdf

ah yep fair enough, in aus its listed as 6.6 for both auto and manual on 95/98 unleaded, does it mention what fuel it runs on as standard? what fuel is most common in the U.S?
@DieselDrives9 жыл бұрын
ThePravZA it depends on where you are in the US, but we usually get 3 choices, 87, 89,and 93 octane are available. Unless you're in El Paso, then you can get at low as 85. In Los Angeles, the highest you can get is 91. There are very few stations in the US that carry 100. There used to be a 76 station in Agoura, CA with 100 at the pump. Now it's bottles. I think Sunoco in Ballantyne area of Charlotte that still pumps 100, but I haven't been there in years. Of course, there are also E85 stations scattered around but they are hard to locate. E85 is supposed to be 108, but the fuel economy is terrible and for me, the performance hasn't improved.

The weirdest thing is that for the 2012 model, Motor Trend and Car and Driver tested the A4 Quattro Tip (automatic), to 60 in 5.8 and 5.6 seconds, respectively. Somehow the 2014-2015 are slower, even though they are rated at 10 more HP, and for the life of me, I haven't been able to figure out why. Most reviewers come up with 6.2-6.4 seconds for these later models.
@zadeh795 жыл бұрын
Motor Trend, Car and Driver, and Edmunds tested the 2012 A4 Quattro Tip, to 60 in 5.8, 5.6, and 5.9 seconds, respectively (those times are without 1ft rollout). Audi, claims 6.2 seconds to 60, and there numbers are usually conservative, but also they're times are rollout times, which almost all auto reviewers exclude for 0-60 quotes. If he is getting 7.1 seconds, he is probably not using Launch Control Program.

@DieselReview Really late to the party, but hey , I'm looking at the Audi A4 used. A lot of the Premium models are selling for around 25k. At almost half of what they sold for brand new, do you still think it's a good value? Silvercar is trying to build a business around the platform and I'd like to hear your opinion.

Does your A4 have the B & O sound system , you didn't mention it in your video. If so, how is it compared to the stock system
@DieselDrives9 жыл бұрын
The B&O is a must have $850 option and for 2016, it's included in the technology package on premium plus models. Yes, it's definitely worth it on this A4, and I wouldn't consider an A4 without B&O because it's only $850.

+Gena Genadich Ignore my previous comment. I thought it was about the 2016 GMC Canyon Diesel. I'm reviewing the new, 2017 A4 today. The new video will be published soon. Thanks for watching and commenting. This particular A4 was a dud, in my opinion, and I constantly had to floor it to get moving. It was too slow for my safety, so I traded it in for a Q5. The Q5 was much better. I have since moved on back to another A6 TDI.
@genagenadich53788 жыл бұрын
Diesel Review No problem. I noticed that you consistently kept the car in sport mode during the highway trip. I guess it just helps with the level of responsiveness, and keeps those revs nice and high? I agree about how new cars are lugged. I keep my 2014 Nissan Altima 2.5 in Ds mode during aggressive driving on the freeway since it let's the car rev and get all that juice from the engine. Drive mode is just meant to save fuel. I do consistently get 7 - 7.5 seconds from 0-60. Sport mode turns it into a very quick car!
@genagenadich53788 жыл бұрын
+Diesel Review Congrats on your new purchase! Judging by your 0-60 on this A4, it was a stable 8.5 - 9 seconds. Your A6 TDI is definitely in the 6-7 second range, which is way better!
@DieselDrives8 жыл бұрын
+Gena Genadich You are bang on about drive mode. I loathe this efficiency gaming and it explains why manufacturers are ditching the manual transmission completely (to meet govt CAFE standards with every nickel and dime opportunity). In the process, this creates cars with many modes but in a sense all it does if give the car many inconsistent moods. What happened to consistent responsiveness? A consistent response allows the driver to adapt. Now it's the other way around. The car always tries to adapt and it ends up being a moody pile of crap.
@genagenadich53788 жыл бұрын
+Diesel Review At least car manufacturers are nice enough to provide sport mode, which at least makes cars somewhat more fun to drive.

Try using 98 octane gas which is regular in most of europe. Some countryes sell also 95 and 92
@DieselDrives9 жыл бұрын
so me Premium Unleaded gasoline in the US only goes to 93 octane at most stations. 100 Octane is hard to find. But E85 is rumored to have an octane level of 108.
@somax1129 жыл бұрын
Diesel Review i was thinking this might affect the 0-100km/h performance, as you were mentioning this gap between factory specs and real life result, in the video.
@DieselDrives9 жыл бұрын
so me I had the adaptation reset on the transmission and it feels better. I'll be testing 0-60 again after a few hundred miles. Originally, the car was very lagging from a standstill. I thought it was the turbo or perhaps E85.

@DieselDrives9 жыл бұрын
xiumin baozi I wouldn't say the A4 noisy at all. The A6 and Q5 are going to be quieter. The TDI (diesel) models will be the quietest. Sadly, there is no diesel A4 in the US and probably not until 2017. The closest alternative to a diesel A4 is the Q5 TDI kzbin.info/www/bejne/l32QomCHn550kNU The new C-class is quiet but it is suffering from a-pillar wind noise issues at highway speeds.
