i plan to join drum corps when i graduate high school so i can have my 5 years of experience first. (4 years to go) but the problem is, i play woodwind. AND I AM EXCELLENT at it. what should i do? and which brass instrument would be best for me? (i play sax)
@nathanjasper31978 жыл бұрын
alto
@nathanjasper31978 жыл бұрын
i might end up doing tuba as the high school band needs them so i might graduate with experience as tuba soo... yeah
@diegochavezisntmanam8 жыл бұрын
Baritone, Euphonium or tuba. the bigger mouthpiece is easier for a person switching from sax to brass. I marched alto sax for three years in high school, and decided I want to do DCI, and learned baritone over the summer and I marched it senior year. Not gonna lie, I struggled quite a bit. It took a while to build up lip endurance. I ended up doing alright. I also switched to euphonium in classroom band to help me out.
@kevinstone96388 жыл бұрын
+NKJbeast Euphonium or Baritone. I played tenor sax in High School and Played Euph in 1993 with the Coats. Practice, Practice, Practice, and if you think your good, practice two more hours on each day. Then add a 1 mile run in before, during and after the musical practice. with yoga and about 50 to 100 pushups. That is Drum Corps. But I wish you the best of luck and at least try out. They will tell you what you need to work on to make it if you do not make the corps.

Out of euph or Bari... Definitely euph.... This past year... I wasn't in high school yet... But we got to play with the high schoolers for stand tunes and I had to play the marching baritone while the high schoolers that played it played the euphonium... So I'll play it next year... So much better

baritone. the bore is cylindrical in both instruments, and the mouthpiece size is the same.
@Rampantsnowshoe8 жыл бұрын
Baritone or euphonium. All you have to do is associate your slide positions to fingerings. 1st position is open, 2nd is 2nd valve, 3rd, is 1st valve, 4th is 1st and 2nd, etc. I would reccomend weight lifting as well.
@seansutherland62707 жыл бұрын
baritone is a valve trombone that isn't useless

+Esteban Gonzales baritone and euphonium are basically the same thing if you can play baritone you can play euph
@estebangonzales1398 жыл бұрын
+I Want To Share With You yeah I know ive I play both lol... I am just unsure if Bluecoats have an all euph line or a Bari/Euph line?
@sadclowninc21068 жыл бұрын
+Esteban Gonzales im honestly not sure the exact difference everyone i talk to has a different answer but people change the names out for each other even if its not a euph or vice versa
@estebangonzales1398 жыл бұрын
The difference between well basically euphonium is bigger due to bigger/conical (tubing gets bigger through the duration if the instrument) tubing and a bigger bell used and allowing and used to produce more sound and project more in the mid-low range but suck tuning wise anything above a Bb. And baritones are basially smaller in a sense with smaller tubing and a smaller bell allowing it to and project well in the mid-high range. But cannot project low stuff as good. Hence these are why they are usually Bari/Euph lines in DCI except BD with their "hybrids" and Phantom with their "Buicks". This is marching wise. In the concert setting the concert euphonium is used in general since it is capable naturally to perform from low to high range depending on the player's range...... Sorry I am a big music nerd and plus I play euphonium so I get offended when people call it a baritone lol. But however I am marching baritone with the Madison Scouts this summer lol 😁
@sadclowninc21068 жыл бұрын
+Esteban Gonzales thanks for the explanation i play euphonium (based on what you said) in my high school. what is really annoying is when someone calls your euph/bari a tuba

@conradcash51038 жыл бұрын
+Lemonsqeezerz4 They have a limited use of trombones, DCI recently changed rules to allow all brass (for at least solos) but most of the time you'd be marching euph/baritone.
@catherinewhitaker34258 жыл бұрын
Ha Same. I play flute(s) and piccolo. But play trombone in jazz band, and then I found out I STILL couldn't March DCI without learning a new instrument lmao
@conradcash51038 жыл бұрын
assign positions to valve combos. 1st = open, 2nd = 2, 3 = 1, 4 = 3 or 1 and 2, 5 = 2 and 3, 6 = 1 and 3, 7 = all
