The older I get the less I want to do that big of a job. My 2015 gmc sierra 1500 just threw the P06DD CODE. The first video I saw was a guy changing out the oil sending switch and the screen filter. Then I came across this video and it made more sense that this is where my problem may be at. After watching half of this video I decided I don't want to do all that work. I hate having to pay a shop to do it but sometimes it's just not worth it for me to do. Luckily I have a 2 wheel drive so it will be a little cheaper. But I do enjoy watching the video.

FYI: You can change that solenoid without removing the oil pan! Very doable...Problem is something screws up internally on that pump and solenoid itself likely not the problem. So, gotta swap it anyway.

How?
@benq.mechanical2 ай бұрын
@@veltboy314 With the timing cover off, there's enough room to unplug the solenoid, pull the retaining clip, and slide the solenoid straight down (into the pan) and pull it back up and out. I put a rag underneath the solenoid to make sure nothing fell in the pan. But it's very doable. Like I said the pump screws up, so realistically best just to plan to do the whole job anyway.

Waiting for part 3. We still don’t know if replacing the pump will fix P06DD. It could be the wires. What was the hot idle oil pressure when it was running?
@aandamustangs Жыл бұрын
It was around 70 psi at idle before, after its about 35 -40

That’s a running ton of work to replace an oil pump. Goodness

Any update if this fixed the problem? Also, could the oil pump have been replaced by just dropping the pan and not removing and if the engines front parts?

Its RTV gasket and will leak if not removed, cleaned and re install
