What were your symptoms and did this fix the problem. Mine started off saying gas cap needs tightening. Then it progressed to when vehicle is driven like 20 minutes then when you slow to stop and go it bucks and stalls. When driving fast you hardly notice anything. If you let the car sit like several hours it is fine again at low speed until like 20 minutes of driving.

My, tighten gas cap warning light came on and my remote start would not work. I did not experience any other problems like you are having.

@@user-gr9pf2iq1f Sorry I just now saw this. This did not fix the problem. It ended up being a solenoid on the intake manifold related to this system. It might have been called the purge valve? I can't remember. But I swapped it out and that was the problem.

You probably need to to push in a little further in before you turn in and click it into place

Great video! Did you happen to test the old vent valve? What was the issue with it?
@Xrc53 Жыл бұрын
Thanks. I did not test the old valve.

I’m a master technician and I can answer your questions the vent valves always get stuck open. When the ignition is on there is a constant supply of positive volts the valve is controlled on the ground side. Most cars are controlled on the positive side. All cars don’t have vent valves some of them leak detection pumps. Vent valves spend most of there times open the only time they are closed is when the PCM is running a test. So when they go bad they get stuck open and they won’t close. It’s best that they get stuck open rather then they get stuck closed if they get stuck closed your car will run the evap test and it will pass so you won’t have any engine light come on but what will happen is when you go to pump gas the pump will keep stopping the only way to put gas in your car is the stand at the pump and hold the handle because the excess air that in the gas tank is not being vented. They do get stuck closed but it’s very rare that they do. But when it comes to them cars like the one this guy is working on they are also know for having a lot of shorts. Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Chevrolet they always have electrical problems. (((This cars is known for having electrical problems))) If you command the vent valve with a scanner you won’t find any positive volts present. And that there is the problem with them cars a lot of mechanics always change the vent valves with out checking the car properly and the cars always come back with the same problem. Check engine light is on with a vent valve code present in the PCM. Needless to say I get a lot of engine diagnostics that come in after going to another shop many times and they was not able to fix the problems.

@@atmphil1 I have a po442 code so I brought new gas cap starting w what all it can be. They say it can be a purge valve, leak detection pump, FTP sensor, charcoal canister, malfunctioning vent valve or an actual fuel tank.😢 I have a 2015 malibu and this is what onstar diagnostic emissions code sent me. I look it up with all these possible causes... how does that help a lady?? atmphil1 you seem to have more knowledge than me but I thought to try the easiest and cheapest things first since I don't know what it really is, what say you?? I don't have a lot of money 😕
