In May 2023 I bought a 2016 Z06, 3LZ, convertible, A8, in Daytona sunrise orange metallic, with Kalahari interior. I've added a cold air intake and new larger super charger lid. I love it! Thanks for the video!

Bought a new 2019 Corvette Grand Sport, with a MANUAL TRANSMISSION, and it’s a great car! Huge power, fantastic handling, and with the magnetic ride control, the car goes from track stiff to cruising smooth in an instant. My wife even asks when we can go for drives in the Corvette Grand Sport, and that rarely happens with my NSX. Buy one, if at all possible, life is short.

I agree with his assessment of the Z06; however, I'm not sure about the necessity of the competition seats. I think the standard seats offer more comfort for a long drive. Now if you plan to put more track miles on your Z06, then the competition seats might be a better option. I guess I just don't enjoy hard leather seats.

Great vid! I'd love the experience of building my on ZO6 engine. I heard the 63 did have a performance data recorder in the form of a recordable 8track. Basically it just recorded or last screams after you spun off a cliff. Lol

Great review. Always enjoyed it. I'd many chances to get a corvette but never ended up getting one.(ie., 300zx, M3, CarreraS, GT3RS instead) but this Z06! I like it. To visit the factory to build my own car. I would build this Z06 or Lamborghini, GTS, AMG etc. like to own one of the 3 sec cars in time. Thank you again for many, many, many of your great video. So, I wonder what car would you buy for a greatest driver's involvement car today? eg: MX-5, Z06, M3, gt3 RS(991), GTS, hellcat, C63 or Huracan. Having powerful engine is great but it may not be necessary. Sometime the refinements are just as crucial to have a car to be enjoyable for driving. Don't you agreed ?

One 1963 US Dollar would cost around $7.50 in 2015 Dollars, so a '63 RPO would be around $45,000 in todays money. What a lovely car.

Glad you asked and before I answer . . . full disclosure: We shot car to car as well as in car with the roof panel out but sadly, there was SOOOO much we wanted to fit in this episode - that segment and A LOT more - landed on the cutting room floor. That said, I am a hard car open top guy - virtually every car I have owned has either been a convertible, targa or some sort of other hole in the roof so understand I am very biased in this area. Soooooo a little of that tech stuff - when Tadge and the guys engineered the C7 platform, their target was to exceed the torsional rigidity of the C6 Z06 *with the roof out* . . . goal being of offering the removable roof and a convertible Z06. How does it drive with the panel out - really, no different. In my opinion, better, because you have the benefit of an open top car. When not filming, I even went on the hunt for broken pavement - would have been easier in my Native New York - and the car was not disturbed as other open top cars. And really, this is the reason why the basic C7 is so balanced, the stiffness of the whole platform. Now, here's the rub: As much I as love open top cars, if it were my money, I would do the coupe because as cool as a 650 HP convertible is, you can't take it on the track - which I have done with a number of my cars. Hope that helps.

Very very nice video. You did a good job on the base c7 last year too. It's amazing what you get for your money with those new corvettes. Jeremy Clarkson who hates american cars called the stingray the bargain of the century in his written review.

I wouldn't mind building the engine of that C7 Corvette Z06. If I had to choose another car it would be the Nissan GT-R. I have had an obsession to the Nissan GT-R since I was old enough to walk. I grew up playing Gran Turismo so the Nissan GT-R is very special to me. Mostly the R34 and R35 models.

@motomantv I'm considering the Z06 Z07 package blue exterior. I haven't spent much time in the stock seats & 0 time in competition ones. I have a bad back so I think I'll go for the comps as another channel said his back pain went away while on a long drive in his Z06 with competition seats. Said something about his posture. I respect your opinion, is the 650 HP/TQ too much and is the car hard to handle around town and carving thru traffic on I5? I'm debating the Z06/Z07 or Grand Sport Special Edition or 2019 718 Cayman GTS or 2010-2012-4 Porsche Turbo S PDK. Your thoughts please. GOD bless you.

It's a GM product. They know that the industry isn't ready for a $150k+ GM vehicle. It may never be.. They do still use some cheap materials invisible from the exterior.. Unlike, let's say, a McLaren, or Ferrari.

Yes, not everything is top notch like in a Ferrari, but you get technologies/ configurations that keep the cost down without sacrificing performance. For example, OHV V8 (push-rod), FR layout, manual transmission instead of dual clutch etc

Anthony - GM only sold 34k Corvettes all of last year. They are mass produced to an extent, but we're talking apples to oranges. Ferraris don't sell trucks, sub-compact SUVs etc.. The build quality between the two are laughable.

HDaviator No, most sports cars don't look like that, Jaguar F-type looks similar but not the same and it wasn't the most acclaimed interior by the way. Audi R8 interior is not the best design either, but the look of the steering wheel combined with that aluminium manual blows this Corvette one out of the water, especially in person.

To be honest, I own a 2015 Stingray but it is my third Corvette. Perhaps Vette owners are just happy to have an interior that dosent scream rental car for a change. That said my car is loaded with leather, magnetic ride, Z51 package. I can say that on the steering wheel my Left thumb controls the cruise, my Right thumb turns the radio on and off and controls central data display (and handles preferences hopefully when you are stopped), my Left finger change the station and Right fingers adjust the volume. Big knob near Left elbow switches between driving modes on the fly and turns off the traction control with one click (not sure I agree with how easy it is to turn off the TC). Below the driver's right touch screen video display is climate controls, seat heating and ventilation with nice to the touch rotary knobs for fan and temp. All easily reachable. WTF do you want from an interior?

tmat04 I usually like Exposed Carbon Fiber roofs (especially in the M6), but in the Corvette, you got black A-Pillars, Exposed Carbon Fiber roof, Body Colored B-Pillars (or C) & parts of the roof ... all together looks messy.

IceDree​​ I agree with you that the black A-pillars, when combined with the optional carbon fiber roof, gives the roofline of the C7 Corvette/Z06 a tacky appearance. But, the carbon fiber itself looks great. Chevy should've chosen to leave the A-pillars in BODY COLOR as standard, and allow buyers to choose it in black as an option, if they desire. When the carbon fiber roof is selected, there's just too much black. And the black A-pillars don't blend with it. I guess if the A-pillars were in carbon fiber also it would have made a difference. But I think certain colors like white (for example) helps diminish that odd look. By the way, the BMW M6 Grand Coupe is a beautiful car. It is perhaps the best looking sedan BMW has ever designed.
