I really appreciate you posting this. I have a new to me 2015 2.0L escape Platinum. The oil change took me 20 min (mostly due to draining the oil). Followed step by step! Thank you!

my 2015 escape 1.6liter engine (5W20 - 4.3 qts) used a T40 star tool and 13mm socket. you are exactly correct, take off the shield in the back 1st. cheers

Great video. Looked under the hood and at the under carriage and got the idea ford said "here's what we want and here's how much space you have, now play Tetris"... apparently it's not as bad as I was expecting (my 06 Tacoma has lots more space). Thanks for tips

I plan on using your tips this upcoming weekend after we get our windshield replaced (finally), also a 2015. Ty for the tips and video here. Huge help for sure. I have a slight lift ramp for both front wheels so I can easy access the rest. But definitely doing that, and going with the K&N you recommended also. (Have done wix successfully in the past for a chevy cruze 2012), but now on a family base. Ty for the support video. Still helping owners. :D

Nice job on the video... thank you. To the comments about 3800 miles being overkill .... I tend to agree with YOU. NOT overkill ... this is a turbocharged engine ... full synthetic oil & high quality filters are a must. No way I'd let my turbocharged vehicle car go over 5,000 miles. Oil is cheap ... engines are not ... I don't care what the oil life monitor says. Thanks again.

Thanks for the detailed video! BTW, 3800 miles between changes is overkill. The manual says 7500 with normal use and 5000 with heavy use.

it's one of those things, I know it's over kill but like the piece of mind. thanks for the comment

People here are telling you that 3800 miles for an oil change is overkill have not been paying attention to the Ecoboost engines' issues with crankcase deposits building up in the back side of intake valves. Frequent oil changes with good oil will help mitigate that deposit issue. @@ClaytonYatescarenthusiast

Thank you. Just did mine based on this and not the others. Pulled 7Qt out and it's 5.7q in...a bit worried about what Ford did. The drain plug even had 125inch lbs to break loose. You need a 7mm or 9/32 for two of those screw bolts on the sides. Don't use Fram if you care one bit about your vehicle. Go Wix either way. XP for the Mobile, non-XP for Castrol Magnatec. It's a turbo so please go full syn (Magnatec is a blend in this weight). Flushing with 1/2 a quart is just a waste. You're not flushing anything. There's still old oil in the turbo feed lines....it's useless and a waste. The filter will work that out. Wix 51348 XP is what you should use and only fully synthentic. Castrol Edge or Mobile 1; your pick. Screw the manual. It's a good engine and it will go 10K. This isn't a 1966 mustang with loose bearing clearances. Go 5K at least and test your oil.
@ClaytonYatescarenthusiast8 жыл бұрын
the top of the line fram is better than any filter on the market and there are several test that prove that. The base fram on the other hand has cardboard and a non silicone drain back seal, won't recommend that filter. I've always ran half a quart through on all my cars and always will. if it's a waste it's my money so shouldn't bother anybody. this is the first oil change so 3800 is about right.
@kevinkarnes40674 жыл бұрын
J.C. Agree it makes no difference to pour a 1/2 quart through. I haven't heard a lot of good things about Fram. In my opinion, Amsoil oil and filters would be the top choice. I've been searching around for a while and it's what I plan to use for our Ford's next change.

Thanks for this very good video Clayton. We just purchased a 2017 Edge with a little less than 15,000 miles on it. I will be changing the oil on it soon even though it looks very clean but like you I only use Mobil 1 and Motorcraft filters. I have not looked underneath yet but assume I have a lower splash shield cover as well. I might leave that thing off. Also I'll convert to a Fumoto valve and without the splash shield I don't need any tools to do the changes. Thanks again.

Changed oil on a 2018 1.5 L Turbo today. The carbon fiber is a little bit of a pain. The oil plugs aren’t magnetized. Holds 4.3 quarts. The oil filter is really hard to get to. Noticed there is no trans dipstick or fill up top. Not a fan of that. Nice car overall.

Make sure you change your transmission oil at 30,000. You will be surprised at how quickly it gets dirty.
@justinbecker33405 жыл бұрын
The transmission oil drain and refill is priceless advice. It is SUPER easy to do and the benefits are so many. Expect to get 4 quarts of the 11 swapped out at each refill. I just did ours 3 times in 3 weeks and am gauging we have just over 80% fresh fluid in the tranny now. It is money, preventative maintenenance money, well spent.

Why even bother doing your own oil change when Ford offers the "The Works" for $39.95 it includes: oil & filter change-synthetic, tire rotation, brake inspection, multi point inspection, fluid top off, battery test, filter check, and belt hose check, also free coffee & bagel while you wait.

You've obviously never had them strip your drain plug, leave oil dripping from your car, or not reattach the skid plate fully and find it flopping around... 🤦🏻♀️

Nice informative video. But do your engine a Huge favor & NEVER use another Fram oil filter. If you do some research you'll find they are 1 of the Worst option's. I won't even dyno a car until they are swapped anymore
@ClaytonYatescarenthusiast8 жыл бұрын
TheDynotuner shows how much you actually know about fram filters, no offense but there is so much more to it than that. yes the orange fram filters are horrible. They have rubber instead of silicon anti drain back valves, the pleating of the media is bad and weak, and they even have card board backing. never use an orange fram. this filter on the other hand has shown better filtration and performance in several independent studies. metal back, full man made pleating that filters better than any other filter with more surface area, the anti drain back valve is silicone. best filter out there. thanks

I was hoping this was the 2014 Escape. The oil filter location was designed by a total idiot! This one looks like it's easier to get to. As far as why I change my own oil. . $24 for a top quality filter and full synth oil as opposed to over $50 by some high school gear head at a oil change shop who never heard of a torque wrench.
