I understand that you don't always have every vehicle available to you, but unfortunately your comparisons and "drawbacks" in this video are 100% irrelevant. You should not have compared this to any of the trucks that you did. The GMC Canyon is considered a mid-size truck, which would make it comparable to the Toyota Tacoma (not Tundra) and the Nissan Frontier, and of course the Chevy Colorado, but that truck is identical in all ways except the front-end styling and the materials used in the interior. If you considered the Canyon as a mid-size truck, which it is, the drawbacks you listed in this video would not have applied. It is class leading in absolutely every category. I suppose one "drawback" is that it costs slightly more than the competition, but that is to be expected when it outperforms in every way. This really disappoints me. You're always about hard information and facts (when they apply), and this is the first time you have just been completely wrong in one of your videos. I think this is especially important because yours is essentially an educational channel and many people come to you for information. People who have not already done their research about the Canyon and its competitors could easily assume that it is an under-powered and inferior full-size truck, based on this video, when in fact it is the most powerful and most capable mid-size truck available. You can't rightly write up drawbacks just because you had nothing appropriate to compare it to. It makes no more sense than saying a drawback of a BMW 3-series is that it can't tow things like the F150 can, but oh! It achieves better MPG!

Ted Riggs GM picked the vehicle to enter in the category, I simply compared what was in the category. Really liked this truck, and even though it's not the same category as the others, it could most certainly be cross shopped with them.
@pantreus76229 жыл бұрын
I just should have been rated on it's own, really, as you didn't have other mid-sized trucks available. Or perhaps focus on things that aren't so directly "versus". "I like the Canyon because it's easier to drive and park, but I like the full-size trucks because _____ ". The drawbacks weren't fair. And while the Canyon is an absolute beast for a mid-size, people who need real heavy-duty towing and payload capacity aren't likely to consider it. There are very significant reasons why myself and many other people prefer a truck like the Canyon over something like a F-150 or Ram 2500. There is no doubt that the big V-8's in those vehicles have more raw power, but that is not necessarily an advantage to everyone.

@pantreus76228 жыл бұрын
Ben Tollefson It's a big truck, for sure - I've got a '93 Ranger and the new Canyon/Colorado dwarfs it - but it's in the mid-size category. I'm not the one who decided this.

Also by the way you failed to mention that it has the highest horsepower 300 plus I believe pretty impressive for also being the segment leader in fuel economy for a mid size truck not a full size even then it's still impressive

Do you all think the GMC Canyon is worth paying the $2000 premium over the Chevy colorado? I mea it's like paying $2k for nicer trim right? Nothing really else difference? Any difference in reliability OR service for Chevy vs GMC?
@avquest017 жыл бұрын
Exactly. No difference at all. I even think the Colorado has a nicer trim.

Why are they comparing this truck to other full size trucks? It doesn't compete against the Tundra or the 1500. It's in the small truck segment, and competes against the Tacoma, Ranger, and Frontier.

Im gettin this :) but no all terrain package, costs too much and the 3" lift I get will be better than the things that come with the all terrain package

Why does the manual state that if the air dam is removed for prolonged periods of time that the motor will get improper air flow. What problems are going to happen if you leave the air dam off? Did you remove it for the video and put it back on due to the warning in the manual?

it doesnt lol its purely just for fuel economy.

@pantreus76229 жыл бұрын
Delta7525 No. The 4-cylinder version has higher MPG, and the 2WD V-6 has higher MPG as well. The AWD/4WD V-6 has the lowest fuel economy rating.

@71502859 жыл бұрын
wait what? Why would u wanna have the traction control off when off roading?
@TheDGeneration9 жыл бұрын
7150285 Wheel slip is expected when off roading, the traction control system will be doing all sorts of crazy stuff to prevent slippage, cutting engine power and so on. You'll spend more time fighting the TC than fighting the mud and roots.
@71502859 жыл бұрын
TheDGeneration I thought TC will help mudding. Because you definitely don't wanna loose traction in mud, snow, or sand.
@farmerallis9 жыл бұрын
7150285 You want traction control and stabilitrak turned off when off roading. Otherwise the system will limit torque to certain wheels which start to slip, which will get you stuck. The Canyon has a G80 mechanical rear locking differential which only engages when one wheel starts to spin. If the traction control is on the wheels wont spin, therefore the locker wont engage and you'll be stuck.
@71502859 жыл бұрын
farmerallis so TC cuts power to certain wheel to maintain traction? I thought TC applies brake to wheel that looses traction that begins to spin.
@farmerallis9 жыл бұрын
7150285 Well, yes, it does apply the brakes. Either way, it's reducing the amount of torque sent to the wheels which are spinning.

What you and many other people don't understand is that these are loaned to the press so they can test them under controlled conditions. They're loaners, so they can't take them and baja them. Are you going to go rent a vehicle and then race them like they did in Days of Thunder? No, because guess what happens if someone from the press borrows a vehicle and brings it back messed up? They aren't allowed to borrow from that manufacturer anymore. If you want to see a true off road test you have to go to Youtbube and find the one moron that doesn't care about messing their truck up just so they can give you a proper off road review. Nobody is going to do that with a brand new vehicle. Unless of course you want to volunteer, and if you do, let me know because I'd love to watch that video.
