I love the ..."baby, I am bust right now". I have said that so many times with the same tone... LOL! Great video, helped me out!

Where did you get it from and was it expensive?

EBAY Dealership listing oem. It was way less expensive than a brick and mortar Dealership.

I only know bc i did this on mine as well, the left side strut is the one responsible for moving the liftgate up and down, the right side is a standard run of the mill gas strut wrapped in the same plastic material as the left side. The replacement of the left side strut has some wires and cables that need to be removed and reattached upon replacement whereas the right side is pop out pop in, as shown in the video. The right side strut is responsible for holding the liftgate up when opened and when it fails, the liftgate will just fall, as shown in the beginning of this video. This is because the liftgate motor is not designed to support the weight of the entire hatch. Hope this provides helpful context.

That sucks. I have the previous generation with over 200k miles and the liftgate mechanism finally failed 2 days ago, hence me searching youtube for DIY fixes..lol Disappointing to see that your newer model already had problems with the gate mechanism. Doesn't give me confidence in my plans to buy a new one at the end of the year.
