Did a similar upgrade to a 2017 Mazda3. Just put in 4 new door speaker and the difference is wild. Beyond words. The only difference was I did not use the JL Audio speakers. I went with Sony XS-160ES. Stunning. So happy.

Great video. I also saw your install video. Question: did the volume drop with the new door speakers compared witrh the factory speakers? I am asking becasue many OEM stereos are 2 ohms instead of 4 ohms, so when you replace with 4 ohm speakers, they are drawing half the wattage and the volume drops. I saw in your install video that the tweeter was 4 ohms, and it surely is connected in parallel with the door speaker, so I guess the door speaker might be 4 ohms? If you did notice a drop, then the door speaker was surely 2 ohm. Thanks

in my 2015 mazda 3 HB when I got it (used) it had no sound coming from the driver front door and only its tweeters (in the dash) and other door ones worked. Being a total n00b, i went over to crutchfield and got whatever they determined with their craptastic 'just wanna sell you stuff' tool said it would fit my car. Dimensionally, they got the size right but didn't even ask if I wanted a component system like the MFG had originally intended. So, I got 4 2 way coax speakers (ones that have the tweeters in the center) and since I don't have a great ear for subtle nuances for exactly 'where' the high-end register of sound is coming from, my question is this: Does it matter if I install more than one tweeter? Is 6 ok? I kept the factory ones in place in the dash and now all 4 in my doors each have their own. Am I wasting space or loosing power? I can't really tell the difference except there is no squelching forcing me to put the volume knob at half anymore, so, I do get to be happy about that.

DW, did you already installed yours? If not, I said you should get component speakers front door and coaxials rear doors. Normally they sells the component speakers with crossovers and Tweeters. I just replaced mine with no crossover..( you can save them for future upgrades like installing a 4ch Amplifier) It's all depends on what you want. If it's just improvement, only the speakers will do that for you. Nowadays you can keep the HU and still build up your sound system with the right equipment.

Hi i really like your project! But i wanted to ask how its effective if you installed this component directly to offical stereo without Amp? i mean if you put this speakers with more watts the stereo itself will not make the sound louder... You felt any changes by sound?

I did this and yeah you need and amp cause the stereo doesnt have enough power, it sounds lower and with less bass

You said you didn't crossover your front speakers. Safe bet that the front door and tweeters are crossed at the head unit? Do you know if the rear door speakers are full range?

TomeOfKnowledge74 The headunit or the amplifier if there is one somewhere with the stock non-bose system would control the crossover points. However, because they are pre-defined and unchangeable they may not work perfectly for every replacement speaker you throw into that place. The closest you can get to the stock speakers would be ideal to meet the same outcome. Any replacement will more then likely be better then the stock speaker anyway, so it will likely be an improvement overall regardless what you choose.

@@Lemonhead8890 Front Tweeter has a built in crossover it is not crossed over at the head unit you will need a bass blocker on your tweeters. or do like most logical people and just buy a 3.5 coaxial speaker with built in crossover its a direct fit

wait.. you purchased component speakers.. but didnt install the crossover? So you have full sound going to the tweeters as well? I am considering just getting a midrange and replacing that in the front doors and keeping the stock tweeters... highs are highs.. I cant tell the difference.

Truth is the human ear can better hear the higher frequencies so after market new tweeters are de rigueur. Bass is just bass everybody will hear it anyway .The cheapest sub woofer is the way and has to be loud enough to torment people that's all .

How do you install a sub into a Mazda?

I'm sure there are some tutorials online. But essentially in a nut shell. You need to buy an AMP, Subwoofer, amp wiring kit. You need to run a power cable from your battery probably to your trunk. You need to tuck the wiring underneath the carpet. You also need the output from your factory stereo to be routed underneath the carpet to your trunk for the subwoofer. Once you have all of that, you can hook your subwoofer up to your amp and you are golden. Start with that, look up details online. Thanks for watching!

I installed a Bazooka in my Mazda 3 2014. It is a subwoofer with a amp built in. I had to pass a power cable from the battery and connect the signal to the wire speakers. Cheap and doable by anyone who is a little manual.

Since you are going to use the factory radio, you need to tap into high level inputs. This means tapping into speaker wires for the speakers themselves. The rear door is the most accessible and the best option since you'll be putting the subwoofer in the trunk. Tap into that, and connect that wire into a line output converter. The line output converter should have a remote turn on built in so that when you turn on your radio, it'll turn on, and therefore turn on the amplifier powering the subwoofer. Finally just connect your power wire and ground wire for the amplifier, the RCAs from the line output converter to the amplifier, and then the speaker wire from the amplifier to the subwoofer box.

Im thinking about adding a $60 walmart dual 2 channel amp but am really dreading having to run my own wires. At the same time the amp has a bass boost capability and I've heard that speakers sound great on it with a lot of bass.

Someone explained to me that the distortion is actually from the spealers being severely under driven, thats why I asked

The speakers definitely sound best when the volume is about 33% - anything below that you can hear minor distortion.
