The Merrie Monarch festival regularly gets full performance videos taken down. I don't understand why they cut *their* uploads so drastically when DVD are no longer available for purchase. (Not that i can afford them anyway.)

Someone in Japan has a full video uploaded, but... there's no sound. :( I don't know what kinds of legal stipulations are involved per the MM, but what they're doing with videos here is very frustrating. FWIW, i live on the mainland, 6 hours ahead of HST, with no way to record. I'm so glad for the livestream, but i can't stay up until 6:00 a.m. in order to see everything for 3 nights running.

Yeah it's such a bummer to see how they've forced others to delete their videos but then don't even bother to put them up themselves. Like where's the logic? Even from a pure business standpoint they're not even selling DVDs of the events!!! Like come on guys! The culture is so beautiful. I enjoyed listening to the songs/chants and now some of them are just gone. Like gone gone. O lono e was a fave of mine and I can't find it anywhere. 🫤
