2015 Mitsubishi Mirage flashing D.....CVT filter change

Fixed this on my wife's car by changing the valve body after fluid changes and filter stopped helping. No more flashing d or shifting problems. Got a new valve body on etsy for $200 plug and play. Seller name was Djtransparts. Hope this saves someone all of the trouble that i had to go through over the past couple of years to figure out the fix.

Thanks for showing this step. I checked shops around me for the cost for a CVT fluid and filter change - avg. $350. Easier and cheaper for me to do it myself.

Dang! 16 dollars for an O ring and 50 dollars for the filter. That is hefty!

I saw that too! hey, amazon has that part for $8 and it includes the o ring! first search out the mitsubishi part then look below in the alternates, good luck!

There's a filter stuck in the bottom of transmission also, you will see it if you remove the pan

Probably about 2 quarts in the pan. The torque converter has about 5 qts in it, so unless you suck oil in through the oil coolant lines.... you will have to deal with mixed oil. FYI: My daughters CVT transmission torque converter locked up on it's 76K mile marker. Need a $3800 torque converter and valve body.! Car is iether dust-or I cill hve to put it together with used TC, filter, oil and possilbly valve body at about $800. Symptom: Torque converter locks up and stalls at light. Feels like you dropped a clutch at idle on a manual transmission.

Keep changing the fluid Do a drain and fill Drive 50 or 100 miles Do it 3 or 4 times

Just another thing the flashing d indicates 2 things transmission got hot due to reasons, not enough tranny fluid or to much, the other is because something about the sensor and the third common reason, yes I listed to you run fast in it say for example I did Houston to LA about 80 mph about 6 hours into drive the D flash and my tranny was overheating FYI the flashing D has types of flashes that mean different things e.g. D flashes fast or slow

The housing has to be straight when you put it back

No I didn't drain the transmission

I did it. Ended up losing about 4.5 fl oz from the filter

@@themeatstall9001 yeah, the CVT filter behind the front driver side wheel. The total trans fluid capacity is close to 7.5 quarts, so it didn't even move the dipstick level.

Hi! @ The Meat Stall : Where are you located? I have the same problem on 2015 Mirage. If you are anywhere close (I am in Ogden, Utah 1 hr North of Salt Lake City), I would like to get it to you to get it repaired. I took the car in to repair centers and many said they could not help or they advised to repaid entire transmission. Please suggest any repair center around (Zip 84404) that could do it simply as you did if you are far away. Thank you very much!

I still have the issue but I did not change the bottom pan filter or the transmission cvt fluid. I had took it to a mechanic previously and they said that they did it but I personally think they lied. I will be changing the pan filter and fluid soon. I think this will solve my issue. I think I remember reading somewhere that if your trans symbol is flashing, it might be overheating.
