People complain about the transmission... but as long as you change transmission fluid every 30k miles you’ll be fine! Great car! Reliable! Low maintenance. Classy. Can’t complain !

Nice review of the 2015 Nissan Altima. I just leased my Altima SL fully loaded in White Pearl with the rear spoiler that really enhances the style of this car. The 4 cyl engine is just right for normal driving needs so I am glad I did not get the gas guzzler V6.

John L The 4-cylinder powertrain works pretty well on the Altima, John L. Thanks for sharing, thanks for the kind words, and thanks for watching, too!

Hi John, how did your experience with that car end up? I am looking at purchasing a 2015 in pearl white with a rear spoiler.

***** No doubt. Definitely getting this in December! How do you think I'll fare with my credit? It dropped to the high 500's from the 600's because of a negative impact from a collection agency. Will they make me pay a crazy payment per month? Estimate said about 500/month off of 36 months.

DreadfulControversy Any drop in your credit score is something to try and avoid, DreadfulControversy. We suggest you first try to improve your score again by trying to pay off some smaller debt or at the very least remaining in good standing with current creditors by making payments on time, then when you are ready to purchase the car, try to secure your own financing first before going to the dealership. Credit unions and banks that you already accounts with are good starts, then go to the dealer to see what they can offer you. Obviously, the best deal for you is the one you should take. We wish you well and we appreciate your support on our channel!

***** Damn, OK. Will do. I should be able to pay off my debts by the time I plan on going for the car. So I should go to my bank (BOA) and try to get them to help me finance the car? Sorry if I seem naive, I'm just new to financing from banks and things of such.
@AutoAcademics
@AutoAcademics 8 жыл бұрын
DreadfulControversy No worries with the questions, DreadfulControversy. Yes, just prior to purchase (about a week before you're ready to buy), inquire about a loan from your bank, see what rates you qualify for and see if you can get a pre-approval without officially taking the loan out. Then see what the dealer is offering and compare the two. If the dealer's offer is better, then buy the car through the dealer. If it is not, finalize the better loan with your bank then use that to purchase the car. Also, any money you can put toward the car for a down payment helps, too. Good luck!

Very good presentation of this car. I have a 2014 Altima S with 19,000 miles on it. I love my car if there is a better mid size car for the money not sure what it is. Mileage is awesome seats are comfy there is plenty of room I am 6'3" I don't feel confined and dash layout is very good looks great compared to the Fusion and Camry. I think the four cylinder is perfect for this car a daily driver and the complaints I have read about the CVT is perplexing I love it.

Altima is more comfortable than Accord but the Accord is better optioned at lower trims than the Altima. Also, Accord has better resale value and has slightly worse build quality than the Accord.

I'm trying to get the 2015 Altima SL and some negativity comments I saw got me worried about the CVT and some said their transmission ran out before 100k I've used different cars in my life time but I've never had a situation where transmission collapsed before 100k at least 200k so I need your advice sir

Hi Ayoola. We haven't heard anything about the CVTs failing at 100k miles, however, that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. The way we see it, there are a lot of manufacturers that have used them over the years, from Audi, Hyundai and Honda to Toyota, Chrysler and GM. Now it must be noted that Chrysler, GM and a few other manufacturers have been sourcing theirs from JATCO, a company that Nissan has a controlling interest in. Audi, Hyundai, Honda, Subaru and Toyota all make their own. Bottom line: Half of the world's CVTs are made by JATCO, so if there is a general problem with those transmissions, it will probably be all over the news. Finally, Nissan sold over 330k Altimas last year and the same in 2014. That's a lot of cars and a lot of people who would be in the same boat. Isolated problems do occur, no matter what product you purchase, but right now the only issue we have with CVTs is that they don't shift gears. LOL And that's just a personal preference. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Decent review. MPG will vary upon driver, driving style and road conditions. City commuting is Not good as I've gotten ~23-25 mpg just for city driving. Put on some highway mileage, the mixed mileage improves to ~31-33 mpg. Too bad Nissan did Not include a standard 'touchscreen' radio display which defeats the purpose of having a display screen :( It's Only available with the GPS package option.

+Michael Chan You are correct, Michael Chan, that mileage does vary depending upon all of the criteria you mentioned. If we're totally honest, we rarely try to eke out the best mileage possible, so when we do achieve the EPA average, it's rather impressive or at least noteworthy. Thank you for your comments and thanks for watching, too!

+AutoAcademics Have >11,000 miles on my 2014 Altima SL and the mileage has improved. It gets better mileage in warmer temperatures and performs better when you use full synthetic oil. Now the car is getting ~33 mpg mixed driving, mainly highway for commuting. City mileage is ~28 mpg. If I drive longer distance on the highway, it'll get near 40 mpg, at least according to the car's mileage odometer. Use full synthetic oil for oil changes and you could travel ~5,000 - 7,500 miles before the next oil change and drive steadily instead of driving like a speed demon to achieve the best fuel efficiency ;)

Michael Chan You are correct again, Michael Chan. Steady, reasonable throttle inputs will definitely help your fuel economy. We have to admit, sometimes our steady inputs aren't as reasonable as they could be, but we're learning. Thank you for sharing!

I currently drive and own a 2012 Altima and I'm absolutely DYING to drive (maybe one day own) a 2015. Heard that the 2015 is a lot better than the model I have.

psdude23 Yeah. Believe it or not, they stopped selling the coupe because of slow sales, leaving only the Accord coupe alone in that midsize segment. A NISMO version of the Altima coupe would have been nice. Thanks for watching!

Nice car, it's a pity Nissan transmissions start breaking down once they go over 50 thousand miles! Nissan used to be reliable cars in the 80s till the mid 90s but now their quality has gone down since they merged with Renault!

Hey sir, what's an estimate on how much a new transmission would be? I have this same car with 60k on it. Worried the transmission will go out within the next 2 years. (will be driving mounted up with rims half the year)
