Haven’t skated seriously in 10 years or more... so glad I’m getting back into it.. but your ankles will not be prepared for the sudden change.. highly recommend stretching from head to toe before you skate. I’m 33 and getting back my old tricks and even learned a couple new ones.. skate or die ppl

It’s nice seeing Rob Dyrdek talking about the event. A lot of people want to call him a sellout but the man is a straight up genius. Where would skateboarding be without him? No where near as popular and globalized. Always been a huge inspiration to me growing up 10 mins from Kettering.

ive been noticing that the judges seem to favor nyjah a lot. i mean its hardly fair. im not saying that hes undeserving and isnt good, its just that hell get 9s for tricks that others only get 8.6s or something for. that second run he fucked up in the middle and ended up with an 8.2, but luan fucks up in the middle and ends up with a 7.7. aside freom that they were both great runs but nyjah always has the judges favor. i dont get it. and its getting really annoying having seen it so often since this is the third contest ive watched today. its always nice to see him lose though. him getting beaten by a rookie was just icing on the cake

I was wondering the same thing. And the same for Cody’s last attempt or two. Honestly, my guess is that since this is originally aired live on TV, and they only have a certain slot of time before the next thing Fox was airing, if they thought they were short for time, the first thing they do is pull the guys that don’t even have a shot at podium to make sure they have time to fit it all in. I also noticed they didn’t air the trophy ceremony, when they came back from commercial Kelvin was just holding his trophy. So that’s my guess!

Austin Hale I used to skate, I'm not an angst teenager who thinks they understand how the world works and doesn't assume all professional athletes are glorified hippies who just do it for the loooove. If they did it for the love of skating they wouldn't be in these events, they're in it for the money. Explain the excess sponsorship these guys have, the huge houses etc etc. Of course they're just in it for the love, no way would they do it for money, I used to skate when Chris Cole was a full blown emo.

Scoring is all over the place too many times. Judges need better methodologies. This is one of many examples : Huston (42:25) - Fakie Half-Cab Bs Smith 180 out (or to fakie)... Score 8.8 Hoefler (49:56) - Fakie 270 Bs Tail Slide To Fakie... Score 9.3 There's a 0.5 pts difference for what is essentially the same trick. Although, if you do skate, you know that Bs Smith tend to be a bit more difficult than a Bs Tail Slide. So by this reasoning, Huston should have scored the same or higher for his trick. If looking for judges, I'm available for SLS 2021 :)

Rob dyrdek doesn’t get the credit he deserves for setting this SLs contest from back in the day, and now finally an Olympic sport. Too bad it couldn’t have been done years ago befor yuto and the Japan skaters took all the medals, nyjah should’ve had tons of Olympic medals

Nyjah really feels that he's the best in the world nothing wrong with that but you can tell he has no respect for other skaters like only thinks about himself

He respects the other skaters. He's constantly complimenting them and they all like him. The only hate he gets in the industry are from people like you online that don't know him personally. He's a good guy.

Stems back to a contest shortly before this when P-Rod tried a FS bluntslide, and bailed. Then Nyjah did a FS bluntside, landed it, and got scored 8-something. Then P-Rod did a FS bluntslide, landed it, and was awarded a score of 0.00 as a result. The crowd booed Nyjah's next attempt because (presumably) they felt Nyjah had used underhanded methods (taking advantage of fine print in the rules) to set P-Rod up for a wasted attempt.
