Anytime I see a review for this car people are so critical in the comments. It's not an ugly car at all. The price and specs are similar to hatchbacks from other manufacturers but this has all wheel drive. The comment that says "why would you buy this when you could buy a base model Wrx for a similar price" amazes me. It makes no sense at all.
@salzerilli47893 жыл бұрын
Also a used WRX is like $22,000 where I'm at at a minimum unless you're getting a model 10 years old or so. Also I just bought a 2016 Imprezza limited for about $14,000 with only 60k miles. Very cheap for what you get.

Having test drove a few of these, the CVT has come a long ways. With traffic ever increasing in my locale the paddle shifters let you play when you want with 6 "simulated" speeds, and slide over into D and let the drool drip out of the corner of your mouth when stuck in stop and go. Lower RPM's on the freeway= better mpg than the 5sp manual version. Yes it's no WRX, but a great all around commuter equipped for all four seasons that uses regular unleaded gasoline.
@oldschoolclashing38838 жыл бұрын
Great test drive! One thing, you don't have to put the car into manual mode to use the paddle shifters. You can operate them in regular drive mode. The CVT will switch back to automatic mode itself.

You mention how the rear legroom isn't all that impressive when in reality it's one of the best in the segment. You mention the corolla having better legroom, but it's literally the *only* one with better legroom. It's super roomy in the impreza AND the corolla, especially when you compare them to cars like the mazda 3 and ford focus.

It doesn't matter. My point was, I think he's misinforming people about the amount of rear legroom there is compared to alternative vehicles. It's a compact car, there isn't going to be much legroom to begin with regardless.

I like the Impreza hatchbacks, but they tend to be updated much slower than the other Subaru's. It looks like a 2012 Legacy interior/exterior. I'd also LOVE to see a 2.5 engine in there for that extra power. It would be worth the hit on fuel economy and make the car that much more fun to drive.
@guyportmonteau50219 жыл бұрын
41.1 m.p.g. on the display was quite good, calculated might be a little less, the displays have variations. Imprezas are really substantial cars. Two test drives were convincing between a sedan and hatch version both with CVT's. Even the transmission is excellent, it's just different for many. It's the fuel economy that counts, but the traction of AWD, overall dynamics and solid feel, it's within a top 10. If cross-shopping it's easy to figure out all the Impreza has going for it and the whole Subaru line-up. Soon the company is making another shift, there's a new Impreza in the next two years, it's a consideration that should be worth waiting for.
@nickperet91958 жыл бұрын
How do you feel about taking this vehicle out in the rocky mountains for hiking?
@catsspat8 жыл бұрын
You just need to toggle & hold the control to change the cruise speed by 1 mph increments. So if you toggle it quickly, it goes up/down by 5 mph, but if you push it up/down and hold it, it'll change by 1 mph increments, until you let go. And the mpg calculated by the car is ALWAYS too optimistic on my car. On my car, it's off by 1.5-2.5 mpg. That 41+ number is still crazy good, though. I've never been able to get anything that high. Then again, my drives are either really short (7-10 miles) or really long and fast (I-15, I-5) going 75+ mph. I barely manage 30-31 mpg on those long 5+ hour drives, which is actually not that bad in my opinion. I have this model (2015 Impreza Sport Limited w/ EyeSight(TM)), by the way. Adaptive cruise ROCKS on those long drives!

I enjoy your auto reviews, but I think they need more variety. Maybe you prefer more family-type vehicles, and that's fine, but I think it's time to step away from the Subarus. I know you own one and are a fan, and they are great vehicles, but variety for your viewers is nice. I appreciated it when you did a truck review, as that was completely unexpected. Maybe consider reviewing the 2015 GMC Canyon. It was only reintroduced this year, and with only a very small number of 'midsize' trucks available in North America, it is class leading in every aspect. I think you'd appreciate it and it would be awesome to see you review another vehicle that so few people seem to be aware of.

Could you possibly do a video where you briefly (if possible) describe pros and cons of some of the engineering choices that you observe in your car reviews? For example, pt comment on things such as "engine cover or no engine cover", "battery up front or drivers side or passenger side", "plastic intake manifold vs other materials", etc. Obviously you wouldn't be able to go into a lot of detail while keeping the length of the video reasonable, but because your car reviews are so detailed it would be really helpful and interesting (not to everyone surely, but to me) if I had some idea of whether what you are talking about is a "good thing" or a "not so good thing". Is an engine cover so bad? If so, why? And why do manufacturers use them? Advantages to no using them? If this question is way too broad, perhaps you could just satisfy my curiosity with regards to engine covers and battery placement for now...? Thanks.

Yes, I have the manual version (2016). It is a 5 speed. If you want turbo, you must buy a WRX or WRX STI, but those do not come in hatchback (WHY, SUBARU, WHY???). You cannot economically put a turbo on the base Impreza. This model suffers a little from "rev hang", but it's not terrible.
@facebok123218 жыл бұрын
nothing about this model has been economical for me, no mods and averaging 12mpg, what are you getting with the manual?

You must have something wrong with your car, because there is no way you should be averaging 12 mpg no matter how you drive. I average about 24 mpg with my manual on 90% city driving. 90% highway driving gets me 30 mpg.

i was thinking that as well, but i thought it was just my driving habits, mostly city driving. I tend to push it quite a bit but i didn't expect to get 12mpg, although it went up from 11 last month lol
