If ur handy with a multimeter,test light, or hell even a speaker to check for voltage just hook the reverse wire from the pioneer directly to the harness connected to the shifter in the center console. Weve done it that way for years n its the easiest. If u dont want to connect it down there just follow the wire up higher in the dash n tap in there.

I had the sam problem. I got the same harness from autoharnesshouse.com to display the rear camera on my Pioneer avic 7100NEX. Tried and tried but no luck. I finally took the car to my local installer. They were able to tap into the camera feed from the MFD. Works now. The only issue is that the camera displays on the radio and the MFD. I can live with that. At least now i can actually see behind me.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually would've liked to have what you describe because my Pioneer doesn't have the guide lines lol. I wonder what cable they hooked up that AHH removed.

Jose Mendoza Hi, i want to change my head unit in my wrx 2015, which suggests to me?
@DeeperImageAutomotive9 жыл бұрын
Any of the newer Pioneer head units are nice. Look for head units that support CarPlay for example, head units that are capacitive touch, Kenwood, Alpine are all descent as well.

I was looking to buy the pioneer avh-x2700bs. Having the backup camera on the unit itself would be great. I went to the website you listed but don't see the harness you purchased. they seem to reference a stock nav. I have the basic radio non-nav. Is the harness different?

is there a way i can use both screens for reverse ?
@DeeperImageAutomotive7 жыл бұрын
There is a way to do it, but I never tried with the harness I had. But to answer your question, yes. Check NASIOC.COM.

Where did you route the wires running from the mfd to the head unit?
@DeeperImageAutomotive4 жыл бұрын
You really are just tapping into the existing harness so need to run anything outside the OEM setup if that makes sense.
@faisalmajid27464 жыл бұрын
@@DeeperImageAutomotive there is a video cable that has to run from the mfd harness to the head unit right?
@faisalmajid27464 жыл бұрын
@@DeeperImageAutomotive I have a 2015 sti. I figured out how to run the video wire from the MFD to where the double din is located. I took out my gauge cluster and fished the cable through the left side.

I hope you get this working. Great vid.

AutoHarnessHouse now sells these on their website. Here is the link: www.autoharnesshouse.com/81491_rec.html You might need to tap the reverse signal at the tail light depending on your car. I can confirm that it works on a 2015 STi!

You ever figure out what the issue was? and is the wiring the same on a Limited MT?
@DeeperImageAutomotive9 жыл бұрын
Ran out of time this weekend and waiting on a few responses so no fix yet :/. I'll definitely post an update when I fix it lol. As for the wiring it looks the same on all Limited and Premium. I've only noticed differences with the base.

great video, and thanks for your work and detailed explanation. I'm from VA and I know those hot summers and working inside cars--when you pulled the head unit out and all the wires spilled out I smiled. I've got a 2015 Forester 2.5i premium and am getting the pioneer 7100. I'd like to enable what you're attempting here, but I'm also curious if any of the other stuff in the top display (MPG, clock, etc) are retained? and will the backup cam be in both the top screen and the head unit? someone mentioned that in a comment. My ultimate feeling is that the backup cam in the 2.5i premium is actually pretty basic compared to other vehicles (i.e. no warning sounds, no steering suggestions, fairly lo-res) so I might just avoid the entire headache and leave it off the head unit. Curious to know your thoughts.
@DeeperImageAutomotive9 жыл бұрын
Yes the top display still worked as normal with MPG, tire directional and traction status, clock, etc. The only fictionally I lost was the OEM radio used to display music info there and the OEM camera. Many are saying that the OEM camera can be retained. It's too small IMHO. It doesn't beep and the only thing it did was display the guided lines which don't even move.

What bezel kit is that to make the fitment perfect? Looking to possibly upgrade my stocker unit to a Pioneer.
@DeeperImageAutomotive8 жыл бұрын
+Tyler Holmes I used the Metra 95-8902 Double DIN Installation Kit for 2008-Up Subaru Impreza/WRX Vehicles www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001JT03VM/ but they have much better options that fit better. I had to cut this in a few places to make it align. It's plastic so it was very easy to make those two cuts.

Is the correct fitment the Metra 95-8905B?
@DeeperImageAutomotive8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. I've only used the 95-8902. Check on forums.nasion.com there are other suggestions in the audio section as well.

Sweet! Does this harness still retain the bars like on the small screen?
@DeeperImageAutomotive9 жыл бұрын
That depends on your head unit. My crappy Pioneer doesn't (or at least I haven't figured it out) support it but some of the nicer ones do and you can adjust them.

I'm wondering if I can hook it up to the factory screen I have on my STi.

Check with Auto Harness House, as I believe they do have an option to do this for the OEM Nav system but I'm not 100%.

Hey Jose, just checking if you ever had an update on this. Were you able to figure out why the HU wasn't seeing the reverse input signal? Thanks in advance and also thank you for this detailed installation guide. Very helpful for my experiment to do the same thing (different HU)
@DeeperImageAutomotive7 жыл бұрын
Karim Basically it came down to the wiring harness I had. Also, the guides asked for me to connect to a different wire. Per some of the Subie forums, this has been resolved with newer wiring harnesses.
@ChiMasterFlex7 жыл бұрын
Jose Mendoza, wow thanks for the info man. did you end up going back to Brian at autoharness to fix that?
@DeeperImageAutomotive7 жыл бұрын
I ended up using a local car audio shop guy to patch the harness I had. it was literally just a matter of adding a missing wire and connecting to the right one. But from what I've read on Nasioc and comments left here, looks like the new harnesses are fixed.

What is this harness called? Ive installed a android unit and have been searching on how to do this and saw you have a harness!
