I believe the Buddy heater is classed as indoor safe because it shuts off if there is low oxygen. It can still cause a fire if left next to flammable objects.
@fillg3 жыл бұрын
Yeah as compact as everything is in an RV it seems pretty likely that something could end up a little too close and get set on fire. I use one in my garage but I keep it in the middle of the wide open floor
@davefroman47003 жыл бұрын
Glad to see you taking proper precautions. If I had to guess I'd say the buddy caught the front divider curtain on fire. That was one HOT fire. The smoke will be in everywhere behind the walls. Good Luck. Id strip it for parts and equipment and walk away if it were me. And I spent 12 years in the fire restoration business.

Yeah, this is a parts RV for sure.
@benmac9403 жыл бұрын
Yeah the only burning low down seems to be around the front seats, and it spread upwards rapidly which would indicate flammable quick burning material such as curtains. But definitely hot, a lot of heat damage and comparatively little burning

Tank crack -> because there was snow on the camper when you bought it, probably water system wasn't drained and the resulting low temps froze the water - cracking the tank

All the stuff to fix it up right resides in Elkhart Indiana and White Pigeon Michigan. They build Thor in that area and many surplus places have all you need to fix it. Check out Bontragers Surplus or Johnson Surplus.

You will both figure it out and that RV up and running in no time at all.👍
@HP.Customs3 жыл бұрын
It cracked because after the fire water was left in the hot water tank then in Minnesota where you got it the water froze and boom blown tank. Those are easy to replace and are cheap, I put one in mine for around a 130 bucks.
@zrkn13 жыл бұрын
I wish you videos were at least twice as long. Usually the slide can be manually cranked out by a couple of long hand cranks that stick in holes outside and near the slides. The hand cranks should be stored in an outside storage compartment.
@danandyong66533 жыл бұрын
I am an RV'er, those "clicking noises" although nice, sounded like the furnace and/ or fridge were trying to start. Should shut both off for now. Also make sure the propane tank is turned off

Hi guys, Someone once said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” The great RV restoration project began.👍 Let's do it...
@johnnyboy8303 жыл бұрын
Love this project guys keep it up. To me I think it was the heater that caused the fire. Since the placement of the heater when you first got the RV seems like it started in the driver compartment. What I think the person got kickout of their home and was sleeping in there during the winter so they used a heater to keep them warm.
@zillionzulu3 жыл бұрын
definitely the handcuffs cause the fire! if I work on this - i just completely remove everything and build it with my layout
@cindyrose41553 жыл бұрын
When you put the slides out, the generator must be running or the engine. The slide outs must have power running to them in order to operate, do not try to operate on just the batteries, the batteries do not have enough power to push the slide out.
@rsprockets78463 жыл бұрын

The burn pattern behind the driver's seat on the wooden panel is almost the lowest point (what I can see on your footage) where the fire was. It can be an indicator that the fire started there.

The clicking noise could have been the water heater or refrigartor trying to light the LP gas, it want light if gas is off, I would think someone turned it off during or after the fire. Can believe the sun screens in the very back melted. I even think I saw where the shower wall melted. Next time take ou around to see all the melted stuff if possible. Can't believe none of the glass didn't break! Keep cleaning

Maybe I drive down from PA, we film it and the repairs and I'll add my colorful commentary and musical talents? It would make for great content! Let me know...also, the word "appreciate" is spelled incorrectly in your Description section. Much love. JVL 😎

I don’t get it: why on earth do so many people on YT see the need for protective gear and then never make use of the hood that is included! Is it so nice to expose your ears and part of your hair to those substances? Why when you already spend the money not take the full protection? It is hot and you need a shower afterwards anyway. Greetings from Germany and please continue with your great videos!
