I have the Insignia SE Elite 2.0 Diesel and got to say the performance, road holding and fuel economy are great.I have been a Mondeo person for years and thought lets have a change and no I do not regret it. Compared to the Vauxhalls I have had in the past this is a lot of rungs up the ladder. I truly believe as a toss up between this or the Mondeo of a similar spec then this wins hands down.

I have had BMW’s and Audi’s but the level of unreliability is abysmal, I would have never considered a Vauxhall insignia due to so-called bad reliability reports, but considering they are used heavily and abused heavily by company Car drivers it’s not that much of a surprise that they will wear parts quickly due to exceedingly high miles. These reliability reports never judge on like for like, for example cars used by private owners, a Lexus will have a cherished life, where as the insignias are driven day in and day out as company work horses, but they must be good as company’s keep buying them.

I have a insignia sri, 1.8l petrol all I can say is that it is a havy car and the power is not enaugh. the consum is absolutely imens. 27 miles per gallon.

Every vauxhall I have owned has been great up to 60,000 when everything starts to fail, every one I`ve had has ended up with a rattly top end clicking camshaft, failed wheel bearings, gear linkages, erg valves, They are definately made `down to a cost` rather than up to a standard :-( its a shame as they are some of the best looking cars esp the cascada and the gtc.

I love Vauxhalls, they always made a good engine, but thin body panels, hence the term rust bucket. Personally I wouldn't have a diesel because you may save 2quid a fill up, but you have to live with the noise, and poor performance, that's why they bunged in a turbo. Pretty, but pricey.

Poor performance ? My facelift 2.0cdti would leave the 1.8 petrol standing and keep up with the 2.0 petrol . My wife has a F10 3 year old 5 series BMW which I drive the Insiginia isn't quite as refined or quiet as the beemer but it's by no means noisey or loud to drive it's a very smooth ride so I wouldn't be put off buying a derv burning diesel

mine was 26k!!....same spec..140bhp......sri nav.......slugish though,,,very notchy in gears.....find it very underpowered........the eco mode is a pain in the arse....would never have another!!.......paint is very very thin......no room for an average person in the back..........sooner i change this motor the better,,,,,lot of rattles in the cockpit......vauxhall never tighten the screws fully......very small gap between the washer and screw head.......beware!

Simon West I dunno who u take in your back seats but they are plenty big enough for anyone. But I do understand what you are saying its a love or hate sort of car, it just gives you the feeling of a cheap rip of BMW,

Are you sure that its 140BHP , my 14 plate 2.0CDTI Insignia diesel is 160BHP / 163PS

+1100HondaCB ahh ok , the 140bhp is a bit weak for a very heavy car . My 163bhp isignia has quite a lot of torque . It's not a GM engine either it's an Italian Fiat lump I believe

I'm guessing if you regularly get the finger and abuse from cyclists is probably due to your driving not just for the sake of it.
