Kratos kratos I was on your side Kratos when I first glanced at it. But after looking at the video again it is clear that he made the white truck adjust his speed. Minor problem I guess, but the potential for trouble is there. A smart driver would've waited til there was no oncoming vehicles.

The car is brand new... You can't redline a brand new car... The engine needs to run a couple of thousand miles before redlining won't cause damage to the engine.

I've been cross shopping this and the wrx, and have test driven both. The gti felt more like a commuter car that had some punch avaliable if you wanted to have fun while the wrx felt aggressive and like it wanted to be pushed all the time.

Only advice of course...but whatever you do...don't play Guns n Roses track 'It's So Easy" When driving this beast. You have a good chance of breaking the laws.i got one a month ago...wowww. 2.0 turbo charged...its the buzz for anybody so easy to drive..beautiful.

I have a 2010 gti dsg I'm looking into this car and a wrx they're in the same price range but I think the vw has the better interior. My gti has gone through blizzards and this last round of a brutal winter I have nothing but praise for it but Consumer Reports just trashed the GTI what's your opinion?

My opinion is don't listen to the haters about it being built in mexico and having vw repairs! There just mad they can't afford such a car! I saw go ahead and get the gti over the wrx because while the wrx is awd and such it's still a subaru and still low class interior! Have you sat in the new gti? If not I recommend! It's like sitting in a audi with a vw badge!! It's that good! That's just my opinion! But I think you just unleashed all the jdm lovers that you mentioned the wrx! lol whatever

Consumer Reports consistently trash cars that everybody else praises. Don't pay attention to them. I own a MKVII and can answer any questions you have.

Honestly I think the 210 horsepower is underrated. The torque band plateaus just after 2k RPM and carries all the way up to 6k rpm. I just made a 150 mile trip across NY state and averaged 40.9mpg traveling around 60mph the entire way, and even crossing a few mountains (with a very very light foot). I'm coming into this car after driving a 2002 Nissan Maxima with a 6 speed manual for 2 years, which had 45 more horsepower than the GTI but honestly the GTI feels faster not only in a straight line, but it feels extremely quick on a back road. I don't specifically dislike anything about the vehicle, although the infotainment system is not as advanced as the one in the Focus ST. However, the Fender Audio system in the SE trim is really quite good, and has all the features I really need in a car. As for comparing to the Focus ST I'd say they're pretty dead even in the segment. The Ford has more horsepower (but only during overboost) and the GTI can be had with a limited slip electronic diff and bigger brakes. The GTI also weighs less than the Focus, and it feels more glued to the road. The Focus likes to swing its rear end out once in a while, which while fun is not always the quickest way down a road. The GTI will probably wind up getting better mileage as well. I'm only at 1400 miles on the ODO but I'm averaging 30mpg already driving back and forth to work. The Ford can run on 87 Octane but the GTI requires 91 and up. As for what people say about the undefeatible traction control system. I've hooned pretty hard with it on full and it rarely kicks in. Putting it in ESC Sport mode and I've seen it kick in maybe once. If you approach this car's limits on the road you are most likely traveling dangerously fast and that ESC is there to catch you when the car actually starts deviating from where you want to place it. It's totally not intrusive on the street, but I've not had the chance to try it on the track yet. The only time it has kicked on is when the car loses traction while traveling over a turn with a crest in the middle of it, and you could actually feel the vehicle losing grip before it kicked in to save my butt. It would be nice if it had a track mode to fully disengage it, but I expect the tuners will come up with something for that in the future.

I know there has been much said about the turn signal usage, but it is always better to do the right thing. That said, the turn signal is the only annoying sound coming from this car. That's fairly impressive sound-isolation. It got noisy after the windows were rolled down.

Can't decide whether I should get a GTI or a TDI. Both produce good torque. TDI is a bit more reliable with better fuel economy. But GTI looks cooler and would be more fun. Any suggestions?

Man first thing I notice is that you are driving at extreme low rpm's, it is not diesel, optimal is 3000+- better more. Nice video, thank for in-ear binaural capture, but for nex time please higher rpm and more speed parts. TH ;)

You put your signal on way to early and drive past like 5 turn offs. People waiting to pull out don't know your are signalling for a turn a mile down the road. This is twice as dangerous as not using the signals

I really like this car but id have to get that soundaktor device disconnected. I hate fake or enhanced noise in the cabin. Id rather just hear the engine and exhaust in its natural state. Something wrong with the designer if they couldnt make it sound good to start with.

+Dub Yuh That sound is the engine revving from him hitting the gas to match RPMs as he downshifts.. He's not just letting the clutch bridge the difference in RPMs if that's what you're thinking, which would in fact be bad for it.

question. when you downshift (4th to 3rd) does the mk7 gti rev matches automatically? some new cars come with rev matching technology and i did not see the driver in this video bleeping the throttle when downshifting.
