Does the oil separator can cause excessive oil consumption? I took the intake hose on the turbo and there is oil in the inrake side my problemtnis excessive oil consumption like a quart or more a week… drive it 30miles to work daily… no codes no oil leak no smoke I appreciate any info

It can cause excessive consumption but likely not the cause, could be a piston ring issue or even the turbocharger. Oil separator is cheapest easiest thing to replace that may help with issue

Thanks for sharing this video. Could you tell me if the aftermarket oil seperators work or would you recommend OEM only here? I have a relative with this car and its using oil, no CELs on and it runs great. After reading many forums I keep thinking this is the problem most likely.

I personally try to go with the factory separator when I can being that I’ve had some issues in the past with aftermarket ones and the factory part number updated several times but you will likely be ok with aftermarket

I have a 2014 Seat Leon 1.8T with more than 200'000km on it. It's the same engine as in the video. I replaced the oil separator and there's still a suction when I remove the oil cap. Is this normal? Some say it's normal and some say it's not.
@EuropeanAutoRepair

It should have suction at the oil cap while idling, just not a excessive amount, if you aren’t having any faults or drivability concerns it’s likely ok

@@EuropeanAutoRepairchasing down a hefty oil consumption issue and misfires on my buddies 2014 Jetta 1.8. I suspect a ring issue but wanted to leave no stone unturned. #1 cylinder wet with oil. The others looked decent. Great compression on all 4 cylinders. ~175 psi. Looks like the misfire codes are due to fouled spark plugs. Any thoughts before I start changing spark plugs weekly? 😂

@@EuropeanAutoRepair gotcha, mine is getting a rough idle from time to time and acts like it wants to push past the brakes. Restarting fixes the issue, never throws codes. I have it hooks to my Autel mk808 and watch it on the active monitoring and can’t see anything. It has to be something minor was thinking maybe pcv or vvt. Kinda throwing things at it, may also change plugs, coils but if it was any of those you would think it would be more consistent.
