Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. But I do think you should take it down or edit it with captions or something to show that you weren't using a proper method to measure how much oil you put in, which then required you to drain oil soon after. You are showing people how to do it in a way that could be detrimental to their bikes, you might as well ri-title it 'How to put too much oil in your R3'. Down-voted, sorry.

+Louis Kaplan Also, the manual shows the drain bolt gasket installed with the tapered edge to the bolt and the flat edge towards the engine.

You must love your bike a lot!!! How much oil did you fill lol, there is a set amount that you need to add. I am planning to buy this bike soon. Can you tell me if it has vibrations at any given rpm range
@YamahaR3Racer0109 жыл бұрын
+Nikhil Mendonca Hey Nikhi, The set amount in the owners manual says 2.2 qts. Honestly I have not noticed any major vibrations anywhere on the bike, it's pretty darn smooth in my opinion. I say the most vibrations are at idle and get's smoother as you rev up.

***** that is good to hear. my current bike is a single cylinder so it's not at all smooth.

You've got way too much oil in that engine! The bike is supposed to be level, not leaning at all. Even on the 2 X 4 it was still leaning over. So, what happens when it's too full? The crank bearings (which are not usually touching the oil) whip the oil into a foam and that's what circulates through your engine instead of pure oil. Look at your sight glass (bike leveled and engine off) after you've ridden a while, I bet you see a lot of bubbles.

+miqiee After about 50 miles i drained it a little more, then one more time. I did add about half a qt to much. Got it out soon after. I'm at 2200 miles almost and about to switch to Mobile 1 full-sun 10-40 racing but the first oil change was sorta a feeler to see how much oil it needs. I think on the next oil change I will measure out exactly 2qt and add from there instead of having to drain. The stock crush washer held up being taken down and back on 3 times. I will reuse it till it starts to leak to see how many times it can be reused but have an extra waiting. Post my second oil change up soon!

I just tighten it to my desired feel, Don't over tighten it and strip the threads on the oil pan.

Is that synthetic oil? Congrats and breaking in the bike! I love this bike.
@YamahaR3Racer0109 жыл бұрын
Kaha K It's conventional oil, they have syn blend and full but I like putting some miles on before I actually switch to synthetic. I am doing my next oil change at 1500 miles and probably won't switch until all the oil samples level out in contaminants.

How long did they have your bike to make the repair
@YamahaR3Racer0108 жыл бұрын
I haven't and don't have time to have it worked on till next month but from what I heard it takes from 1-2 hours while you wait. You can have it towed by the dealer or your insurance, they will cover recall tows.

+Kenroy Griffiths KN-2014 filters work, they are a bit shorter than stock but are high quality and work fine. The FZ-07 actually uses these. $10 on amazon smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E2CVI8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_5&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

anyone ever have a super hard time getting screws back off. like my oil plug won't come out even with a torque wrench
@YamahaR3Racer0109 жыл бұрын
+Kenroy Griffiths Oil Drain Bolt? After your first change it should become easier once you have a little oil on the plug. From the factory it is installed dry so it "Fuses" itself just use the proper 6 point 12mm socket and take it off. Or start working out those arms.
