What upsets me that even when Javi wins, he is asked questions about other people's skating, not his own.

And it didn't get better at the Olympics, either. Javi got a bronze medal - the FIRST medal of ANY color earned by a Spanish male figure skater - and all the interviewers asked about was "So, what did you think of Hanyu's performance?" and "Wow, you train with Hanyu! What's that like?" Really unfair, and I'm sure Javi found it aggravating.

Poor Javier Fernandez, he just isn't getting the media attention he deserves! I like Yuzuru but I like Javier too and I feel bad for him. If I was in Javi's shoes, I would definitely have moments where I would be not just irritated but straight up angry about constantly fielding questions about Yuzuru. Obviously if Yuzuru wasn't Javi's training mate but simply another competitor, it wouldn't be nearly as bad.

Javi seems like such a nice sweet person though, I feel like he doesn't feel it as strongly as I do lol. And that makes me love him more. These sort of interviewers really bug me. Give Javier Fernandez his due!

Summer Stars when a Spanish journalist at OG this year asked Yuzuru about Javi, he said I'm really happy someone is asking me about Javi, because Javi is always asked about me but I'm never asked about him. It looks that Yuzuru is as angry as you about this :)

yeah it's ridiculous how media handles Javier, he's one of the best skaters in the world and they never give him the respect and love he deserves, even his own country treats him horrible when he's the first and only olympic and world medalist skater of spain :(

This is absolutely most fun medal ceremony I have seen. So many fail there so everyone is only happy and laughing. I love this medal ceremony. An example. Javier Fernandez from JAPAN! ... she says in the microphone. And many other so funny fails so I have tears on my eyes of all this happiness of the all failing .

I think those probably were the small medals for the FS portion of the competition, iirc Denis had won the FS, Javi second and Yuzu third (you can see also that's the order they are given the medals here). The medal ceremony with the "official" medals is held in the skating venue itself, then usually they held a separated "small medal ceremony" somewhere else for the top 3 in the FS (they also have top 3 for SP on the day of the SP). I think it happens only at Worlds, though, at Olympics there was nothing like that...

Hanyu doesn't want to compete with Javi. He wants to be his friend. Yuzu only likes skating, jumping and spinning around. He sometimes breaks the rules to not do quand or axels...
