I’ve never understood why Lasko discontinued these, there’s really not any other modern alternative to them

Not a bad sounding fan considering it has long spin down time and start-up sound

I had one in an unfinished attic for about 5 or 6 years now. First one died after like 4 years, but worked fine until that point. Got the same as a replacement after hunting all over for it in NJ where there seems to be none available. I hang it with heavy duty wire from a small cross brace in the ceiling about two feet from the top of the only window and have it blow out thru the top screen as an attic exhaust fan. I liked the thermostat for the spring and fall. It would run most of the time in the summer. I noticed something with the newer replacement I got last year. When it gets really hot in the attic, the fan kicks into a slower gear than the normal lowest speed setting and the fan seems to almost be sputtering. I have to turn the fan off and let it sit about 20 minutes, and then it runs normally again. I reduced the chance of it happening by using the middle speed setting, but by late afternoon, it will still be doing it. Does it more quickly on high speed. The fan motor doesn;t seem too hot to the touch like it is overheating, but the attic has been around 100F lately. Only happens on hot days. Just looked for a replacement and sold out everywhere or not being carried. Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Amazon, Walmart. all say out of stock and don;t know when they will be back in. Very annoying.
